APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Motion-Werner moved to approve the agenda. Second by Huettl-Samson.

Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion -Behnke moved to approve the minutes of Regular Council of

March 14, 2016. Second by Blohm. Motion carried.

MAYOR’S BUSINESS

  1. Mayor Schuette stated she heard from a little birdie that this was the last

meeting for reporter Rick Cohler. She thanked him for his 18 years of

service and stated he has been a pleasure to work with.

  1. Mayor Schuette asked the council if the April meetings could be on

April 19 at 7:00 which includes Re-organization and April 25 at 7:00 p.m.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 25, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

STREETS AND SANITATION

GARBAGE COLLECTION

Werner reported the streets and sanitation had talking points

in regards to garbage collection and wanted to bring the

information to council for discussion. Werner presented the

talking points. Schuette asked Pepin to report on how much

time is needed for garbage pick-up.Schuette asked Pepin

to report on picking up big items. Blohm stated he would

like the contracted company to big up the large items.

Approximately 25 large items are picked up per week.

Discussion was held. Schuette asked Pepin for a figure on

the cost of garbage repairs. He stated approximately

$35,000.00. Schuette concerned about disrupting tax payers,

would like city to pick up large items.

Direction – put bid out to pick up residential garbage –

have company that gets bid pick up large items and city

pays for cost.

Blohm stated one subject that should be discussed is

commercial garbage. Pepin reported that the commercial

does currently pay for tonnage, some would see decrease

in cost and some would see increase.

Huettl-Samson asked about parks. Pepin stated he suggests

putting in bid what city needs.

City purchasing carts or part of bid? Approximately $10,000

per year if part of bid. City purchase carts from fund balance

and save on bid. Darlene not in favor of purchasing carts.

Buntrock brought up the subject of where bins are placed

and residents having room, possibly put ordinance in place.

Krull concerned about what savings resident will see.
