in regards to garbage collection and wanted to bring the
information to council for discussion. Werner presented the
talking points. Schuette asked Pepin to report on how much
time is needed for garbage pick-up.Schuette asked Pepin
to report on picking up big items. Blohm stated he would
like the contracted company to big up the large items.
Approximately 25 large items are picked up per week.
Discussion was held. Schuette asked Pepin for a figure on
the cost of garbage repairs. He stated approximately
$35,000.00. Schuette concerned about disrupting tax payers,
would like city to pick up large items.
Direction – put bid out to pick up residential garbage –
have company that gets bid pick up large items and city
pays for cost.
Blohm stated one subject that should be discussed is
commercial garbage. Pepin reported that the commercial
does currently pay for tonnage, some would see decrease
in cost and some would see increase.
Huettl-Samson asked about parks. Pepin stated he suggests
putting in bid what city needs.
City purchasing carts or part of bid? Approximately $10,000
per year if part of bid. City purchase carts from fund balance
and save on bid. Darlene not in favor of purchasing carts.
