Annual salary - Within Assistant grade scale:£17,000-£20,700 depending on skills and experience.

Location - The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT. Some travel within the UK for project delivery, including occasional overnight stays.

The Construction Youth Trust works with disadvantaged young people to remove barriers and open up training and employment opportunities in construction. Through our various projects we help young people to fulfil their full potential, build confidence and self esteem and provide a chance to develop and demonstrate their natural skills and abilities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic graduate who is keen to work in the charity and education sectors and use their undoubted skills to help young people. You will be supporting delivery and organisation of our accredited schools courses, which support social mobility and industry diversification by working in partnership with employers and leading universities. Your role will be vital in helping toprovide a high level of access to the professions for young people aged 14-24 from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Schools and Further Education Assistant Job Description

Role Title: Schools and Further EducationAssistant
Purpose of role:
To provide support to the Schools and FEProgramme Manager on all matters relating to the management of projects, including: stakeholder liaison, project administration, project delivery, and the processing of course handbooks.
Key projects that this role will help to deliver:

Reports to: Schools and FE Programme Manager
Location:
The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT.
Some travel within England and Wales for project delivery, including occasional overnight stays.
Duties:
Support front line delivery of projects.
Provide logistical support by liaising with partner companies, schools, universities and beneficiaries to ensure the smooth delivery of courses.
Deliver presentations to young people.
Provide administrative support to all schools projects.
Assist students with course curriculum.
Mark and help to process course handbooks for the purposes of external accreditation.
Where appropriate, make suggestions for curricular development.
Summarising and reporting on feedback trends from course evaluation, included in student handbooks.
Maintain records for all aspects of delivery, including timesheets and expenditure.
Manage and keep records of petty cash associated with the delivery of projects.
Administering, organising and supporting young people in post-project work placements.
Travel to other Trust regions as required, assisting and leading project delivery.
Act as ambassador for the Trust when dealing with external contacts.
Deal with telephone enquiries and seek solutions to queries raised.
Other tasks reasonably requested by the manager.

Person Specification

Qualifications, skills and experience required to do this role:
Essential:
Graduate
Drive, energy and self-motivation, and a ‘can do’ approach
Experience of teaching or working with young people aged 14-24
Interest in education and helping young people
Understanding of social mobility and widening participation issues
Willingness to learn about the construction industry in relation to course content, assessment criteria and advising young people on careers
Excellent communications skills both written and oral, including:
-ability to communicate professionally with a range of people including: young people, funders, schools, universities, senior construction industry executives and team
-ability to provide written feedback to beneficiaries on project course work
Multi-tasker, good teamworker and organiser
IT literate and digitally savvy
Great administration skills, including:
-ability to keep detailed records
-ability to manage and track cash and budgets
An eye for detail
Adaptable, flexible and positive
A positive approach to all stakeholders, demonstrating an understanding of their differing needs and expectations and a willingness to fulfil them
Great at planning and organising, including prioritising, monitoring and controlling activities, making the most effective use of time and resources to achieve objectives
Desirable:
An interest or experience in the construction industry
