School Specific Scholarships

Most schools offer a variety of scholarships and financial aid. Please check the websites of the schools you are interested in for more opportunities. The ones posted below have specifically sent a notice to the KHS College Room announcing the scholarship. To get these scholarships you must apply to and attend the school sponsoring the scholarship.

University of Dayton – Leadership in Service Scholarship
Amount / $10,000 ($2,500 per year for 4 years)
Deadline / 02/15/2013 for nomination form and student transcript from counselor
Requirements / University of Dayton admission application. Recommendation form and high school transcripts submitted by high school counselor.
Eligibility / Student must apply and be accepted to the University of Dayton. Early action date is 12/15/2012; regular decision date is 03/01/2013.

Fisher College – Criminal Justice Program Scholarship & Psychology Program Scholarship
Amount / $2,000

Requirements / Apply online.
Eligibility / High school senior attending Fisher College in Fall 2013 and enrolling in either a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice or a Bachelor’s in Psychology.

University of Houston – Bauer Excellence Scholarship
Amount / $10,000 per academic year (renewable)
Deadline / Not specified.
Requirements / No separate application is required. Qualified students who apply to UH-Main Campus and select “Business” as their major of choice via www.applytexas.org will be considered for the BES if they are admitted into the C.T. Bauer College of Business
Eligibility / Incoming 2013 freshmen who apply and are admitted into UH and the C.T. Bauer College of Business; must have a Critical Reading + Math SAT score of 1400 or above or 32 ACT Composite score; be ranked in the top 15% of their high school class.

Lamar University – Smith-Hutson Scholarship
Amount / Up to $14,000 per year, renewable

Requirements / Application. Transcript. Must demonstrate financial need with 2010 and 2011 Form 1040 tax returns and W-2 forms for the 2012 tax year. Essay. Two letters of recommendation.
Eligibility / Resident of Texas. Must be a declared business major. Available for a personal interview on May 13, 2013.

University of Nebraska – George Beadle Scholarship and
Ruth Leverton Scholarship
Amount / George Beadle: $12,500 per year (for 4 years); Ruth Leverton: $8,500 per year (for 4 years)
Deadline / 05/01/2013
Requirements / Submit U of Nebraska admission materials before the deadline.
Eligibility / Ruth Leverton: minimum SAT score of 1090 or an ACT score of 24 and a B average.
George Beadle: minimum 29 ACT score

Texas A&M University – Kingwood/Humble Aggie Moms 2013 Scholarship
Amount / 1 or more scholarships valued at a minimum of $500.

Requirements / Complete application, official high school transcript including 1st semester senior year, copy of letter of acceptance from Texas A&M (if you do not have a letter of acceptance by the submission deadline, the letter of acceptance should be brought to the interview). Finalists should be available for interviews in late March.
Eligibility / Humble or New Caney ISD high school senior who has applied to Texas A&M, College Station or Galveston campus and will be attending FULL TIME for the fall semester immediately following awarding of the scholarship. Must have attained a GPA of 3.0 or higher on all high school work through the 1st semester of senior year. Must show established financial need.

Wofford College Scholars Program
Amount / Scholarships range from $2,000 per year up to full scholarship ($45,000 per year approx.)

Eligibility / Seniors must rank in the top 10% of their class and have achieved a minimum score of 1250 on the PSAT or SAT or 28 on the PLAN or ACT
