Meeting called to order at 3:34pm

II. Approval of the Minutes
· Amend September 2016 minutes
- Section V – Principal Update, Shauna Ashmore change “CIPSA” to “SPSA”
- Section VIII Committee Reports, Greg Coull “b” second bullet to read “Also, new this year ELAC will evaluate the efficacy of this program”
- Paul Rauch moves to approve the September 20, 2016 minutes, Stacey Wasson seconds the motion

· Class representative meeting went very well
· Club Rush was successful

· Redwood has 6 students on the Teen Center Committee
· Redwood has 4 students on the Youth Commission
V. New Business
· Parent Concerns
– traffic concerns in the parking lot and on Camino Manzanas, Shauna will be contacting Kathy Lowry, City of Thousand Oaks, regarding traffic patterns, suggestion of placing a campus supervisor in the street to help direct traffic, another suggestion is to place a crossing guard at Oberlin crosswalk
-Marquee’s information scrolls too fast
· Faculty and Staff Concerns
- Is the price of the carnival too high? Redwood can subsidize cost for students that cannot afford the carnival. Teachers need to let administration know which students

VI. Principal Update – S. Ashmore
· Review of SPSA Plan
- Meeting took place Oct. 5th, 2016
- 6 people – 2 SSC parents, 2 SSC teachers, 2 SSC administrators
- Teacher reflections – very successful
- Almost all requests were met, the only requests that weren’t met were not aligned with SPSA goals
- Proposition to add task to 1-4 – add “to provide period release for teachers to attend conferences/workshops in content areas” no opposition to proposed addition
- Vote to approve the SPSA spending – Jim Cook moves to approve, Aimee Struges seconds, All in favor.
VII. Instructional Update – G. Coull
· Redwood is transitioning to trimester 2, decisions are being made in regards to elective wheel
· Administrators and Counseling (ADCO) are meeting to address D/F students, especially those in 8th grade because they may be at risk of losing promotional activities, parents and students are being called, possible meetings held with students and teachers
VIII. Dean of Student Update – D. Jacobson
· Evacuation went very smoothly, a total of 15 minutes
· 2016/2017 Evacuation Updates/Revisions made
· Safety Plan needs to be signed off by SSC president
· Step It Up
- Fundraiser goal attained
- 11/2/2016 participant reward for Step It Up – 6th grade, periods 1 and 2; 7th and 8th grade, periods 3 and 4; it is at teacher’s discretion if students are to make up missed classwork
IX. Committee Reports
· DAC – K. Daniels
- Committees are still being formed
- Homework committee has not met yet, but it will be headed by Cindy Mayling, parents continue to bring concerns
- Conejo Council PTA will be holding a FREE Cardiac Screening for youths ages 25 and under on 11/5/2016 at TOHS 2-3pm.
- Conejo Schools Foundation Inaugural State of Schools Address 140 community members in attendance
- Cash 4 Conejo Classrooms – one application per year, up to $250, if teachers apply in a group it must be for the same event or program
- Public Comments, 2 open positions on the school board; December 2016 hoping to have the school calendars for 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 proposal ready; SSC orientation slides are available on DAC website and we can appoint positions if we feel they are needed
· Gate DAC – no report
· ELAC – G. Coull
- 1st meeting to be held on 10/19/2016 at 9:00am to address needs of English Language Learners, 3 meetings per year, parent involvement encouraged
