REPORTING TO:Head of School

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

JOB PURPOSE:

To make a significant contribution to research, teaching, scholarship, and academic administration in the School of Psychological and Social Sciences. To provide leadership in teaching, research, scholarship and academic administration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Make an effective contribution to teaching and learning in the School, and contribute to the pedagogical success of the School and University.
  1. Develop a comprehensive teaching portfolio that is regularly reviewed andrefined through student evaluations, peer review, training, and scholarly activity.
  1. Ensure learning and teaching reflects best practice through processes of development, management and review.
  1. Comply with, and contribute to, University policies, procedures, mechanisms and timelines for learning and teaching activities.
  1. Initiate and participate in scholarly activities that enhance learning and teaching in the School and University, for example supporting junior academics.
  1. Develop and initiate productive research and scholarship activities, and develop a reputation of national and international standing.
  1. Build a record of publication in international Journals and other outlets of high standing.
  1. Build and enhance a record of success in research funding.
  1. Act as a research supervisor for undergraduate and postgraduate students and, as an examiner for research degree theses and dissertations.
  1. Contribute to the developmentof junior researchers within the School though support and feedback.
  1. Participate in activities relating to the provision of Psychology as directed by the Head of School.
  1. Manage specific projects related to the discipline area as directed.
  1. Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead on Institutional processesand participate in committees as required.
  1. Contribute to the School and University community through internal and external engagement activities (i.e. open days, outreach, etc.).

  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
