 It is highly recommended that parents and students review our FAQ located at the link on the “NYSSMA Help and Info” page on our website prior to submitting any forms

 Piano Students – Students who study piano privately should submit their NYSSMA Registration Forms to the general music/chorus teacher in your child’s school.

 Transportation to the NYSSMA Solo Festival is NOT provided by the district. Parents must make arrangements to get to the host school (above) on the day of the NYSSMA Solo.

 If indicated on the signup sheet, students may be required to purchase 2 original copies of their NYSSMA Solo. If you need assistance on local music store information, please speak to your child’s music teacher.

 Once NYSSMA receives ALL of the solo applications, your child will be assigned a time slot on one of the above dates. Please notify your child’s music teacher immediately of any conflicts. There are no guarantees that a student can be rescheduled, however we will try our best to accommodate any conflicts.

 The commitment to perform a NYSSMA Solo requires at home practicing and dedication. Parents are encouraged to help their children manage their time in order to allow for 15-30 minutes every day working on their NYSSMA Solo at home. Think of it as 15-30 minutes of extra homework every day.

 All-State Auditions which require accompanists: Students/Parents are responsible for making arrangements to procure services of an accompanist. Please speak to your child’s music teacher or review the “All-State Info” link on the “NYSSMA Help and Info” page on our website
