STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

This is a Scholastic Motivation Ministry (SMM) designed especially for our youth between the ages of six (6) and twenty-five (25).Under the Auxiliaries in Ministry (AIM) department.

Its purpose is to empower and provide them with resources, and

avenues to exercise their varied talents, and gifts. To enable them

to recognize their strengths, and to expose them to programs that

will assist them in reaching their full potential, in a Godly manner.

There are two categories in this ministry: Competitive and Non-Competitive.

INTERNATIONAL LEVEL EVENTS

Youth in Action Day Colors: Navy Blue and White.

Dress Code: COGIC Attire

For males: Pants with belts, no hair braids or body piercing.

For female: Modest fitness & length dresses/skirts. No pants, visible tattoos or body piercing.

All Staff: Since this event is dependent upon monetary support, no one is exempt from paying one of the following

  1. $13.00 General registration fee, or.
  2. $20.00 on site registration fee.

Coordinators please remember that you are responsible for acquiring your assistants for YIA DAY.

PROGRAM FORMAT

1.Young adults to preside over the following:

Opening ceremonies.

Program itself.

Closing ceremonies.

2. Presentation of: LARGER, LARGE, MEDIUM, SMALL and SMALLER churches with the most registered participate.

EVENT COORDINATORS GUIDELINES:

To include ALL Department/Committee Heads and Non Completive Event Coordinators as applicable i.e.Roman numbers: I, IV, V & VI.

SUBMIT ALL COMPETITIVE EVENT INFORMATION PACKETS AS REQUESTED, using National guidelines.

  1. Each Coordinator/coordinator/Committee Head must be a member in “Good” standing of the Northern Georgia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction COGIC.
  1. In order to prevent an unfair advantage, no one will be allowed to coach their

Church participant in the same competitive event in which they are working.

  1. Please have a list available by the January 8th state meeting of the following:
  2. The names and number of workers i.e. Leaders, Helpers and or Judges provided for your event.
  3. The type and amount of supplies needed for YIA Day.
  4. For competitive events only, the number of prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place), that you request for YIA Day, with close attention to deadline date.
  1. Remember to meet workers, early, and keep them apprised of the information and or changes as related to them.
  1. Mandatory: Each Event Coordinator must attend their District Rally as well as two (2) State Meetings; however, it is crucial for Department/Committee Heads to attend all Jurisdictional meetings that is specific to them.
  1. YIA Day:
  2. In order to be informed, each Coordinator must attend briefing.
  3. Familiarize staff on necessary information to complete, and turn in.
  4. Don't forget to have prayer prior to each session.
  5. Participants may only participate in pre-assigned session.

For competitive events:

1. Only allow those participants whose names appear on your

registration sheet to compete. No one else will be eligible to

participate without an authorization form, from Registration.

2. Each event requiring Judges must have three (3) Judges or equivalent

actively judging each event at all times. An alternate Judge may be

necessary.

3. Any participate leaving the event before time will be excluded from

competing in that event.

  1. During the actual competition, allow the exact occurrence for each competitor, do not extend, or bend your rules, no exceptions.
  2. No scores shall be given out prematurely to anyone, no exceptions.
  3. Two (2) copies of event winners in each category that will be announced must be made and the original MUST be given to announcer.
  4. Give each recipient the same amount of Enthusiasm, as you would your own church. Do not show favoritism when announcing winners.
  5. When announcing prizes, All WAYS:
  6. Start with the 3rd prize first, and end with the 1st prize.
  7. Call the name of the Church, before the Recipient's name.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE GUIDELINES:

PROGRAM FORMAT

I. Use young adults, male and female from a District as prior decided by Fine Arts Department following:

1. Opening ceremonies

a. The 1st Session should be announced so that participants can

accompanied their classes.

b. Church Representatives and Event Coordinators should be identified

before leaving the opening ceremony.

  1. There are two scissions for events, please listen to overhead announcement for guidance.
  2. Closing ceremonies

1. Presentation of banners, for LARGER, LARGE, MEDIUM, SMALL and

SMALLER churches.

IV. When developing the ceremonial programs, remember to use the following:

1. Present Theme

2. Theme Scripture

3. COGIC Seal on cover

  1. Place Bishop Walden and Supervisor of Women Missionary Cynthia Mattox remarks before the Awards presentation.
  2. Adhere strictly to the following times:

1. Only allow 15 minutes for YIA Praise Team.

2. Only allow 3 minutes for performances.

3. Only allow 15 minutes for all Exhibitions.

  1. Have final draft of the program available at the last State meeting before YIA Day. Please include the following in the Opening, and the Closing Ceremonies using a clear, bold font: "Parents/guardians please reclaim your child or children from our Children's Church session by 1:00pm, Thank you".

CHURCH REPRESENTATIVES GUIDELINES:

  1. Appointed by Church Pastor of Northern Georgia Second COGIC.
  2. Should be knowledgeable, and should stay abreast in all areas of the SMM Department on a Local, District andJurisdictional level.
  3. Will work closely with your District Representative; be faithful during our Jurisdictional Workers Meeting, Holy Convocation, and our Annual YIA Day Event.
  4. Mandatory: Each Coordinator must attend their District Rally as well as three (3)

Jurisdictional Meetings.

  1. Youth in Action Day Registration forms: Since this is the first step to a wonderful ending, please follow Registration Department instructions exactly:
  2. All participants must be a member of Northern GA Second Ecclesiastical

JurisdictionCOGIC.

  1. Make sure all forms are filled out correctly, clearly, completely and neatly.
  2. Make sure all forms are mailed out in a timely basis.
  3. Make sure that all deadline dates are clearly understood.
  4. Make sure that all forms are turned in at the requested deadline date.
  5. A must: Any packet turned in must be cleared by Registration before they are accepted.
  6. Understanding that any packets received after the cut-off date will be held over for OnSite Registration fee increase.
  7. Assure that all participantsare registered.
  1. Dissemination of Competitive Event study material in a timely manner.
  2. YIA Day:

a. In order to be informed, must attend Briefing.

b. Must be readily accessible on YIA Day.

c. Will be that important link between Registration Department and

Participant.

d.Visible name badges for Church and District Representatives, if coast

effective.

DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES GUIDELINES:

  1. Appointed by their District Superintendent of Northern Georgia Second.

II. Must be experienced in the operations of the SMM Dept., and should stay abreast in all areas of the SMM Department on a local, District and Jurisdictional level,including but not limited to attend their District Rallies, and three (3) JurisdictionalMeetings.

III. Maintain an up to date list of Church Representative for SMM Department.

IV. Communicate with your Church Representatives on all matters, such as selecting

your District Bible Bowl team. AssistingChurch Representatives in establishing and

implementing your Bible Bowl Team on a local level to compete and help to form a District team.

V. Additional responsibilities to include:

1. To Coordinate, and host/cohost an annual District Rally.

2. To inform any newly appointed Church Representative of their duties,

and obligations.

  1. YIA Day:
  2. District Representatives need to have a list of their “registered churches".
  3. Church Representatives must be available or have a designated substitute, with their registration packet information available forRegistration if needed.

JURISDICTIONAL COORDINATOR GUIDELINES:

  1. A member in “Good” standing withNorthern Georgia Second COGIC.
  1. Is well versed in and is an expert in matters pertaining to Scholastic Motivation Ministries (SMM) Department.
  1. Should attend Jurisdictional meetings and must stay abreast in all areas of the SMM Department on a Local, District and Jurisdictional Levels.
  1. Should put forth an earnest effort to be present for Jurisdictional Worker’s Meetings, Jurisdictional Holy Convocations, and the Annual YIA Day Events.
  1. Serves as liaison on a District andJurisdictional Department level.
  1. Communicates with, and direct the District Representatives, when necessary.
