Background:The Billy Goat Scholarship Fund was established in February 2013 by Billy Goat Industries, a Lees Summit manufacturer of Lawn & Garden Equipment, to encourage students to pursue specific fields of study related to the Manufacturing Industry. With the belief that today’s students will provide the future expertise and knowledge for the Manufacturing Industry to prosper and grow in the United States, Billy Goat is committed to providing support to students interested in pursuing a possible career in Manufacturing.
Purpose:This fund was established to provide financial assistance to one graduating senior at each of the three Lee’s Summit R-7 High Schools who plans to pursue a degree in the field of Engineering, Design and Drafting or Advanced Manufacturing Technology or Operations.
Number of Recipients:Up to one student at each of the three Lee’s Summit R-7 High Schools.
Scholarship amount:$1,500.00 each
Guidelines:a. The recipient must be in the senior class at a Lee’s Summit R-7 High School.
b. The recipient must plan to pursue a degree in the field of Engineering,
Design and Drafting or Advanced Manufacturing Technology or Operations
at anaccredited college, university or technical school during the academic
year following high school graduation.
c. The recipient must have at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
d. The recipient must have demonstrated that he/she is willing to devote all
effort necessary to achieve academic success during college.
Process:The Selection Committee will consist of members of the Billy Goat Donor Fund and LSEF board members who will review applications and make the recipient recommendation to the LSEF Board of Directors.
Scholarship Payment:The Scholarship will be made by a Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation
check payable jointly to the recipient and his or her choice of a higher
learning institution. To receive the scholarship check, recipient must send
