SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
Theatre Under The Stars will be awarding scholarships of at least $1,000 to outstanding participating students of the Tommy Tune Awards. All participating schools will be provided with the scholarship guidelines and applications for their students to submit.
The scholarship committee made up of Theatre Under The Stars board members and community leaders will thoroughly review all the applications and select the recipients. The scholarship recipients will be announced the evening of the awards ceremony, Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
To qualify for the Theatre Under The Stars Tommy Tune Awards Scholarship Program, students:
1. Must have participated in their school’s musical entered in this year’s Tommy Tune Awards.
2. Applicants are required to attend the awards show.
3. Must be a graduating senior
4. Must plan to major in theatre, music, dance, arts administration or theatre/music/dance education in college
5. Must maintain a “B” average or above in all areas of academic study
6. Must have participated in theatrical activities throughout the majority of their high school career

Please attach the following to this application. Applications must be typed. Incomplete applications will not be considered:
1. Academic Record: Copy of student transcript or academic record
2. Student Essay: In 500 words or less, describe what the performing arts means to you and why you want to pursue this area of study in your college education. This essay is your introduction to the committee and should provide insight into why you are choosing this career path.
3. Teacher Recommendation: In 500 words or less, describe the student’s participation in school and/or extra curricular theatre activities.
4. Proof of Acceptance to a College or University: Copy of an acceptance letter or other proof of acceptance to an institution of higher learning in the coming year.
