Latin Anglo Alliance Foundation Scholarship Essay

The scholarship money you may receive is the result of long hours of work on the part of the membership of the L.A.A. for the advancement of the Hispanic culture. Please write about the following:

·  Describe your long range goals.

·  How do your goals contribute to your culture?

·  Describe some of the ways you can promote positive race relations.

Dear Students:

The LAA Scholarship Fund was established to assist Hispanic students with their pursuit of higher education. Latin Anglo Alliance Foundation funds are raised through various fundraising events throughout the year.

We invite you to apply for this scholarship by completing the attached form. Please follow the instructions carefully and provide ALL the information requested. The scholarship is based on scholastic achievement and community service. Information MUST BE current with official signatures and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

j Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 by the end of the first semester of their senior year.

k Application packet must be complete and legible.

l Students must be available for an interview by the L.A.A. Education Committee.

m If selected to receive a L.A.A. scholarship, student must be present at the Cinco de Mayo awards ceremony as well as the State Farm Scholarship Dinner.

Turn in all the following items by ______.

o Two Letters of Recommendation (preferably non-family members)

o Official High School transcript

o Typed L.A.A. Scholarship Essay

o A current photograph

o A copy of the Acceptance Letter from an accredited College, University, or Vocational program. (If letter is delayed, please bring it with you to the interview.)

All applications and attachments will become the property of the Latin Anglo Alliance Foundation and shall be kept confidential.

Finalists will be announced at the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration.

All recipients of grants or scholarships will be asked to participate in a minimum of five (5) hours in scholarship fund raising activities. Thank you for your participation. Best wishes for your academic success.

Dear Counselor:

Enclosed you will find a packet of applications for the Latin Anglo Alliance Foundation (L.A.A.) Post-secondary Scholarship. Last year, the L.A.A. Foundation was able to award $10,000 in scholarship monies to well-qualified high school seniors. Please make these applications available to Hispanic graduating seniors who meet the requirements. The deadline for completed applications is April 12, 2017. All scholarships are competitive and selected by a scholarship committee consisting of foundation and community members, retired and active educators and school district personnel.

I have enclosed a folder to hold any applications you may receive. Thank you for your assistance in identifying promising Hispanic graduates.
