Scholarship Committee Bylaws
Requirements to Obtain Scholarship
1. Applicant must currently be an active member of the Greater Little Zion Baptist Church and an auxiliary of the church for at least a six-month period prior to the issuance of the scholarship.
2. Applicant must have at least a 2.25 Grade Point Average (GPA).
3. Applicant must submit a completed application, letter of acceptance, school transcript, letter signed by the head of a GLZBC auxiliary in which applicant is a member, and two letters of reference. All items cited above must be received by the stated deadline.
4. Applicant must be admitted as a full-time undergraduate student, or enrolled full-time in a vocational/technical program.
Requirements to Retain Scholarship
1. Student must submit a copy of grades immediately following each semester. However, for freshmen students only, the GPA after the fall and spring semesters combined or fall, winter, and spring quarters combined, will be considered for retention of the scholarship.
2. Recipient must maintain a 2.25 GPA on the 4-point scale or a 1.75 GPA on the 3-point scale to retain the scholarship.
3. Recipient must reapply for the scholarship each academic year and be an active member of the Greater Little Zion Baptist Church through worship and fellowship.
A letter and a copy of the student’s grades must be presented to the Committee for review prior to receiving additional funds.
4. Recipient must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student with at least twelve (12) semester hours of earned credit for each semester in an accredited college or university, or full-time in a vocational/trade school.
Stipulations for Use of Scholarship
1. Scholarship aid will be used for tuition and books only.
2. Student is to receive scholarship for no more than four (4) years unless approved by the Committee.
3. The Committee reserves the right to approve or deny any request for a scholarship.
The amount of the scholarship award will be determined each year based on the number of scholarship applicants.
