Welcome To Crafts
This semester class is a separate elective which does not require an art prerequisite. In crafts, you have an opportunity to make: a coil basket, sheets of handmade paper, a special journal book using bookbinding techniques, several clay pieces, a weaving wall-hanging, a macrame’ piece, and a mini latch hook rug.
Supplies
The Schindewolf Craft Activity Fee for 2009-2010 is $25.00. Please try to have this fee paid by the third week of school. To pay with a check, please make it payable to Schindewolf Intermediate School. If you choose to pay with cash please place payment in an envelope with the student's name and teacher’s name on the front.
Upon paying Activity Fee, supplies are provided as assignments are given.
Textbooks
A class set of state adopted texts will be used in the classroom only.
Student and Parent Expectations
· Students are expected to be prepared for class.
o When the Art Activity fee is paid, students will receive a pencil and pen to store in the classroom. If the pen or pencil should leave, the student is responsible for the replacement of items.
· Students are expected to be responsible.
o Assignments should be turned in on time and make-up work picked up and completed in a timely manner. A grade of 50 will be earned for any work that is not made up in a timely manner.
· Students are expected to be respectful.
o Students should respect the classroom and everyone in it, so that everyone can enjoy their learning experience.
Parents are asked to contact the teacher by phone or email if they have a concern about their child’s progress.

Grading Procedure
Calculations: Major grades (projects) 60%
Daily Grades (quizzes, project progress grades, daily written assignments, drawing journal) 40%
Homework, if given is no more than 10% of the daily grade
Late Work
All assigned work must be turned in complete and on time to avoid a penalty in grade.
Daily Work: Major assignments:
1st day late – 10 points deduction each day 10 point deduction for each day late
Total possible grade of 50 on 4th day or later
Extra Credit
If Extra credit is ever assigned, it will be given as an extra assignment that students may complete outside of class. Extra credit assignments will be posted on the teacher website along with the due date. The assignment may add up to 10 bonus points to a major grade.
