*INDOOR AIR QUALITY This course addresses indoor air quality in buildings, schools, residences and other non-industrial indoor environments. Typical indoor pollutants such as aerosols, volatile organic compounds, inorganic gases, bio-aerosols including molds, and other potential contaminants, are addressed. Instruction and a field trip on building ventilation systems, including ventilation system operations, codes and standards, and procedures to inspect and measure outdoor air supply is provided. Practical procedures to understand, investigate and resolve indoor air quality complaints are discussed. For details:
SAMPLING AND INSTRUMENTATION Effectively develop the tools and skills to survey and evaluate workplace environments for exposure to particles, gasses, vapors, noise, and heat stress. Hands on demonstrations and exercises. For details:
NOISE AND HEARING LOSS PROTECTION Noise is one of the most pervasive yet underestimated hazards in the workplace. This class gives health and safety professionals, HR professionals and plant supervisors the tools needed to understand the hazard, measure it and control it. The class includes a hands-on workshop using measurement equipment. For details:
VENTILATION Industrial ventilation is towards the top of the hierarchy of industrial hygiene and safety controls for airborne contaminants. This course serves to provide a basic overview of industrial ventilation with the goal of providing participants with the tools and understanding necessary to assist in the evaluation, design, installation, operation and maintenance of industrial ventilation systems.
