CONFERENCE PLAY

  1. Length of Season:
  1. The SCAC golf championship will be comprises of two events; beginning in September and concluding prior to September 21.
  1. Location:

1The dates and locations of the events shall be decided at the first SCAC meeting in the fall.

  1. The events, where possible, should be held at courses that are closed for the tournaments.
  1. Eligibility:
  1. The SCAC golf league will only run if at least four schools can supply a team.
  2. Each participating Zone 2 School shall select one boys' team of four and one girls' team of four to compete in each SCAC event. To be eligible to compete, a student must meet MHSAA eligibility.
  3. Currently, girl’s golf is an exhibition league (9 holes per round) and is open to all individual girl golfers who are eligible to compete. Girl golfers will participate at their own cost and are not eligible to compete for the SCAC team championship. The status of the league will be re-evaluated annually.
  4. Players may be substituted on a game-to-game basis as long as their names have been placed on the eligibility forms at the beginning of the season.
  1. League/Championship Play:
  1. The championship shall consist of two rounds of golf played on separate days. 18 holes will constitute a round of golf. Individual scores will be tabulated based on 18 holes of play. (Exception - E.1.)
  2. Team scores shall be complied using the gross scores of the top three (3) players from each team after each round. The team(s) with the lowest combined gross score after two rounds will be declared zone champion and will represent Zone 2 at Provincials.
  3. In the event of a tie for first place overall in the team event after the second round, the combined gross scores of the top four (4) golfers will be used to break the tie. If the top four (4) golfers are still tied, then a sudden death playoff with four (4) golfers from each team will break the tie. (All four (4) golfers scores will be used in the playoff)
  4. In the event of ties for second and third place team (three (3) counting players) and individual scores, RETROGRESSION shall be used to break the tie(s).
  1. Suspended Play:
  1. A minimum of 9 holes must have been completed or a match is rescheduled. If a match is suspended after 9 holes or before 18 holes are played, the scores after the first nine holes will be doubled and used to determine individual scores and the round will be considered complete.
  2. If 9 holes have not been completed, the tournament will be postponed.
  1. Scoring:
  1. Teacher/Chaperone will accompany a group of four for every hole to assist in and accuracy of the foursome's scores. A mutual agreement must be attained at the end of each hole with the foursome and the teacher/chaperone. The teacher/chaperone will be in charge of each scorecard.
  1. Protests:
  1. All rules interpretations must be placed before the convenor(s) as soon as possible. The convenor is to act as the jury of appeal.
  2. Protests shall be dealt with on-site by the convenor(s).
  1. Conduct:
  1. All local rules of the host golf course will be in effect. The Royal Canadian Golf Association and local rules as proclaimed by the host club(s) shall govern the competition. Special playing rules approved by the zone will take precedence over rules in the official rule book.
  2. All competitors will use the regular designated tee markers.
  3. In zone competition, caddies are nor allowed. Players may not communicate with spectators ( this includes coaches, parents, etc.) during play.
  4. It is expected that team members will be properly attired for the golf course. No muscle shirts. Shirts with sleeves must be worn. No hockey or football jerseys. No Jeans, jean shorts, spandex or sweat pants will be allowed on the course. Baseball caps must be approved prior to or at the competition and should be golf related logos. Caps cannot have sponsorship or inappropriate print.
