The SC Virtual School is a free online program available to high school students. Students may take a course(s) through the SC Virtual School during the summer, fall, or spring semester. In order to take a course(s) through the SC Virtual School, students and parents will need to visit scvspconnect.ed.sc.gov/ to see if this program is a good fit for the student. Students and parents should look at the course offerings to see what’s available. Pay close attention to the course list as courses may appear similar but can be very different. If you are taking a class that you have previously failed, you will need to sign up for the course that has CR beside the course name. This stands for Credit Recovery. If you are taking a class that is new course work, you will need to sign up for the course that does NOT have CR beside the course name. This is very important! We may offer a course at Wren High School that is not offered on the SC Virtual School and vice versa. Students must register themselves and take a proficiency test. Once the student has completed the proficiency test, the score will be emailed to the appropriate guidance counselor. Once the counselor has received the score, the counselor will approve the course. Keep in mind that the student’s capabilities to work online will be considered. This is very different from having a classroom teacher. After the course is approved, it is up to the student to complete all tasks designated by the SC Virtual School. End of Course Exams will still be administered for those courses that require an EOC. Final exams will be taken at Wren High School. The SC Virtual School will send a copy of the student’s transcript to Wren High School so the grade can be recorded. The grade will be on the student’s cumulative transcript.
