PUPPY BUYER QUESTIONNAIRE (Tollers)

Thank you for your interest in our Duck Tollers. Because Tollers are active, intelligent dogs, which need a great deal of exercise and mental stimulation, they are not for everyone. If you will please take the time to answer the following questions it will help you and me to assess whether or not a Toller is the best breed for you, especially if I cannot meet you personally. Please use an extra sheet of paper to add other relevant information or ask any questions that you may have. If you have Internet access, I suggest you read the Top 10 reasons not to own a Toller.

Acquiring a dog is a lifetime commitment. I hope this questionnaire will help you to decide if you are ready for a Toller.

E-mail address:
1. Please tell me why you want a dog- for hunting, family pet, obedience, agility, flyball, show, breeding?
2. How did you learn about Tollers and our kennel?
3. Does your lifestyle match the vitality of the Toller? Do you and your family like to swim, hike, boat, camp, run, go for long walks etc.?
4. Do you have a family? If so, please note the ages of your children. Does everyone want a dog? Who will be the main caregiver? Do your children understand that puppies need considerate treatment and not to be mauled, treated roughly or teased?
5. A young puppy needs company. Will someone be home most of the time during the early months? What arrangements can be made if all adults are out of the house? Is your puppy going to live in the house with you? Useful items are an X-pen (folded wire) at least 42” high, and a crate, sizeIntermediate.
6. Do you live in a house with a safely fenced yard? This is a MUST for any active puppy.
7. Have you owned dogs before? If so, which breeds and how long did you have each one?
8. Are you prepared to provide all necessary veterinary treatment, including all annual vaccinations (or two years, or titers), feed high-quality dog food or BARF (raw) diet, license your Toller (after 6 mos) and make sure that your dog is well-liked in your neighborhood?
9. Please state your preference as to the sex of your puppy. If you are buying a dog mainly as a pet, there is very little difference between a neutered male and a spayed female.
In order for my waiting list to remain current, please keep me informed if you should get a puppy elsewhere or change your mind.
If you obtain a puppy from us please keep me informed of your puppy's progress with regular updates and photo's.
