Deacon Phil
Today /
Deacon Phil is running the London Marathon to raise money for the Jesuit Refugee Service (www.jrsuk.net) which accompanies refugees and forced migrants, our brothers and sisters, serving them as companions and advocating their cause in an uncaring world.
Deacon Phil studied theology for three years in Colombia. While there he visited Guyana and saw some of the work Jesuit Missions has supported in the past. After helping a village community lay the foundations for a new church, he came away inspired to run the marathon.
“The whole village came out to help build the foundations and I saw such joy, energy and commitment from the villagers and I wanted that too. I find that running brings you back to life and I find life and energy in my running.” You can read more about Phil's running inspriation in his recent blog post. Deacon Phil is currently working with the Jesuit Refugee Service here in London as part of his preparation for Ordination in June alongside his work here in our Parish. Thank you to all who have supported Phil by making a donation!
There is a ‘London Marathon 2018’ App that you can download if you wish to track Phil’s progress on the day. Search for Philip Harrison No. 40997
