SAT EXTRA-CREDIT GUIDELINES

You may earn extra credit by bringing in vocabulary from the various texts you read outside of class.

Bring in an original or photocopied source, which I will keep, containing a word from our word list (any section). The following sources are acceptable:

o  Textbook (photocopy)

o  Magazine

o  Newspaper

o  Book (photocopy)

*ONLINE SOURCES MAY NOT BE USED.

Each list word with the definition is worth (2) class work points to a maximum of (10) points. Be sure your name is on your submission.

Once I have collected a particular source and word, that same source and word will no longer earn credit. For example, if you bring me a photocopy of your social studies book with the word impervious highlighted at 7:16 a.m., and another student brings me a photocopy of the same page and the same word highlighted at 7:17 a.m., you get two points and he or she gets no credit.

Note: The SAT is a test. It is only a test.

However, it is a rather important test. Because much of the work is done in class, I ask that you consistently work hard while we work on these strategies. Your work ethic will be the greatest factor in your success. You may have noticed there is no final exam. Your final exam will occur when you take the actual SAT. My hope is that you will be so comfortable with the format and content that taking the test won’t be that bad … or at least not so onerous.

HEY THERE J

Did you know that the people who make the SAT suggest that one of the best ways to prepare for the test is to “read widely”? Do you? It’s not too late.

Please return to Mr. Liguori by next class.

I have read and understand the guidelines and procedures for Mr. Liguori’s SAT Prep class and have shared them with my parents/guardians.
