SAT FEE –WAIVER ELIGIBITLITY GUIDELINES

Fee waivers for both the SAT Reasoning test and the SAT Subject test are available for current high school studentswho cannot afford to pay the test fees. Please be sure to indicate on the SAT Waiver Request Form which test your youth wishes to take

SAT waivers are available for students who are currently in high school.

If a Youth has already graduated or did not graduate, but received their GED, the College Board will not accept the fee waiver

Eligible students can receive a total of 4 SAT fee waivers during their academic career – 2 for the SAT Reasoning test and 2 for the SAT Subject Tests.

Fee waivers for the SAT Reasoning Test are available for juniors and seniors only.

Fee waivers for the SAT Subject Test are available for freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior years. A fee waiver can cover as many as 3 Subjects tests on one test day. Students who are not yet in ninth grade may not use the subject test fee waivers.

Note: Fee waivers received from the Child Welfare Resource Center will be factored into the maximum number allowed (4) per student

SAT Test Registration– Students can use the fee-waiver card to register for the test online or by mail:

To register online, the student uses or creates a free account at During the registration process, the student will be prompted to enter the unique 12-digit fee-waiver code from the front of the card

To register by mail, the student must fill out a paper Registration Form and enclose the completed card in the registration envelope provided. The card must be completely filled out. An incomplete fee-waiver card will delay the student’s test registration.

  • Fee waivers may not be used for standby registration
  • The fee-waiver card may not be reproduced or changed in any manner. The College Board can only accept an original card for the test date. Reproduced, faxed, or altered cards will not be processed
  • Students registering by mail must enclose both the Registration Form and the fee-waiver cardin the envelope provided. Registration Forms sent with letters instead of fee-waiver cards cannot be processed
  • Fee waivers can only be used for one registration. If the student misses the test date, another Registration Form can be submitted with another fee waiver, or the student can transfer the registration to a new test date (there will be a $27.50 fee to transfer the registration).
  • Test fees are not refundable, even if a student who has paid test fees would have been eligible to use a fee waiver
  • Photo Requirements – You must submit a photo with your registration for the SAT. The photo you provide will become part of your Admission Ticket.
