Dear resident
Pacific Highway upgrade Sapphire to Woolgoolga– temporary redirection of trafficatthe intersection of Arrawarra Beach Road and the Pacific Highway, Arrawarra while the new Arrawarra interchange is built.
Roads and Maritime Services has engaged Leighton Contractors and Fulton Hogan to design and construct the 25 kilometre Sapphire to Woolgoolga Pacific Highway upgrade.
Theexisting intersection of Arrawarra Beach Road and the Pacific Highwaywill be closedfrom Friday 1February 2013 until the new interchange is opened in late 2013, weather permitting.
Residents who would normally use the intersection will need to access the highway via the northern intersection with Eggins Drive. A plan showing access arrangements and vehicle movements for residents is enclosed.
Residents were sent a letter in July 2012 inviting them to attend two staffed displays at the ArrawarraBeachHolidayPark on 20 and 21 July 2012 to discuss the proposal with representatives of the project team.
Consultation with the local bus companies has also been undertaken. Students who currently get on or off a school bus at the existing bus stop at the intersection of Eggins Drive and Arrawarra Beach Road will need to do this a few minutes earlier at the existing bus stop in front of the DarlingtonBeachHolidayPark on Eggins Drive.
An inspection of Eggins Drive was undertaken in December 2012 in conjunction with Coffs Harbour City Council. It was agreed at this inspection that remedial works along Eggins Drivewould be undertaken prior to the closure of the intersection of Arrawarra Beach Road and the Pacific Highway. Council will carry out this work in the near future. It was also agreed that following the traffic switch, the road will continue to be monitored.
Electronic variable message signs will initially be used to advise motorists of the changed traffic arrangements.
We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciate the patience of residents during these works.
If you would like further information about the temporary redirection of traffic, the changed bus stop arrangements or the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade project, please phone the community relations team on 1800 63 63 63 (toll-free).
Yours faithfully
William Sullivan
