Santander Universities Operations Internship – Initial 6 Month Period (London)

Role Description

To support the Santander Universities U.K Operations team to help ensure all operational and information management activities function efficiently in the Universities Division. The role will focus on a variety of tasks including data analysis, generating reports, event management, web design and maintenance, overseeing Donations and operational payments and working on adhoc projects throughout the year as well as working closely with both the retail and relationship team.

Key Responsibilities

·  Ensure all divisional operations run efficiently with the aim of improving any existing systems and processes where possible

·  Report of sales performance at both a branch and divisional level

·  Regular analysis of Santander Universities UK performance through generating a variety of management reports

·  Assist with various initiatives and events to raise awareness of the Santander Universities division

·  Support the Retail and Relationship teams where required

Operational Activities

Support the Operations team to:

·  Pay and track all CSR, capital expenditure and operational expenditure payments

·  Maintain an up to date database of both branch and head office stock ensuring that the correct allocation of item for all activities

·  Assist the operations team with financial activities including budget governance and supplier relations

·  Support the operations team with key project work within universities

Management Information

Support the Operations team to:

·  Report of sales performance at a variety of levels with the aim of supporting the retail team to track performance against various pre established targets

·  Help generate monthly reports to ensure that budget management occurs efficiently

·  Help generate reports on corporate sales performance to support the relationship team in identifying areas of development and potential growth

·  Generate performance and operational update packs when required for branch staff, the retail team, the relationship tem and the divisional director

Commercial Contribution

Support the Santander Universities team to

·  Identify and recognise new opportunities within the sector and proactively share this knowledge with relevant divisions of the bank and Universities retail team.

·  Assist the Santander University teams to enhance both the educational and commercial relationship with the Corporate and retail teams.

·  Have a full understanding of the Universities commercial requirements and link these to the relevant Santander division whether this be a commercial advance, capital expenditure funding, investment portfolio management, or other need.

Event management

·  Assist with the organisation and management of nation wide events during the peak student intake period

·  Support the operations team in the planning and running of the 2013 Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards

·  Support all Universities teams with adhoc events throughout the year aimed at maintaining and developing existing relationships with Universities, students and corporate partners

Knowledge, Skills & Experience required

·  Well-developed relationship, communication and negotiation skills

·  Excellent numerical skills are essential

·  Self-starter able to work on own initiative

·  Well organised with attention to detail

·  Ability to work to deadlines

·  Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills

·  Analytical/diagnostic/judgement skills to make decisions and problem solving

·  Ability to use Office Programmes with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint is particularly important

·  Knowledge of Spanish Language useful but not essential

·  Ability to identify issues early and implement plans for resolution

·  Punctuality and good time management

·  The ability to work well within a small team
