SANDBOX COOPERATIVE WELCOMES BECCA STEVENS
On Sunday, February 8, the Reverend Rebecca Stevens will speak at Sandbox Cooperative. Becca is founder of Magdalene & Thistle Farms, a community and social enterprise that stands with women recovering from trafficking, prostitution, addiction and life on the streets. Becca’s story will challenge our assumptions and ideas on the issues faced by women who have experienced being part of the human trafficking industry.
This free event will be held at Studio 324, in downtown Rochester, Minnesota and will be simultaneously broadcast online at www.sandboxcooperative.com. Doors open at Studio 324 at 6:30 p.m., and the live event and online stream begin at 7:00 p.m.
Sandbox Cooperative is an interactive forum for conversation, questions, and the exchange of ideas.An initiative growing out of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, its vision is to provide a platform for faith life conversations with a progressive theological lens that encourages questions, doubt, grace and exploration. Previously, Sandbox Cooperative has featured Shane Hipps, Mark Scandrette and Jay Bakker—nationally renowned speakers, teachers and authors.
“For many of us, human trafficking is an unseen issue,” says Erin Gibbons, member of the Sandbox Cooperative organizational team. “It’s important to bring this to the forefront and talk about how to create change.”
Sandbox Cooperative invites you to hear Becca’s story and consider how you might take part in changing this sub-culture. Online viewers will submit questions via Facebook and Twitter with the #sandboxcoop hashtag.
