SCHOOL BASED CHILD PROTECTION

San Jose Elementary School has to sustain discipline to develop among the pupils the highest possible standard of courtesy, morality and behavior. The school should ensure that the pupils are properly cared for, and protect them from violence, abuse and neglect by their parents, or anyone who looks after them.

There are ways to discipline the pupils that are effective in helping them learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.

Every pupil, who after due investigation has been found violating any disciplinary rule shall receive specified sanctions.

OFFENSES:

  1. Any unwanted physical contact between the bully and the victim like punching, pushing, shoving, kicking, slapping, tickling, headlocks, inflicting school pranks, teasing, fighting and the use of available objects or weapons.
  2. Any act that causes damage to a victim’s psyche and/or emotional well-being.
  3. Any slanderous statement or accusation that causes the victim undue emotional distress like directing foul language or profanity at the target, name-calling, tormenting and commenting negatively on victim’s looks, clothes and body; and
  4. Cyber-bullying or any bullying done through the use of technology or any electronic means.

DISCIPLINARY ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS:

  1. The teacher has to respond promptly and has to investigate reports of bullying or retaliation. He / She has to record the name of the victims, the responde3nts and the acts committed by them into the anecdotal record.
  2. The pupils who committed the acts will be referred to the Guidance Counselor for counseling process.
  3. The teacher notifies the parents or guardians of the victims regarding the action taken to prevent any further acts of bullying or retaliation.
  4. If an incident of bullying or retaliation involves pupils from more than one school, the school first informed of the bullying or retaliation shall promptly notify the appropriate administrator of the school so that both may take appropriate action.
  5. The teacher, School Guidance Counselor and the principal will look after the pupil’s behavior inside and outside the school that will not disrupt the education process or the orderly operation of the school. They must take action on the progress of the incidents of bullying and retaliation.
