Introductions and Agenda Review

D. Wilson opened the meeting at 9:05 a.m. with the welcome and self-introductions. D. Wilson stated that the purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for presentations and discussions related to on-going efforts in the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel.

Updates

Byron Buck, representing San Joaquin River Water Quality Management Group, provided an update on the San Joaquin River Water Quality Management Plan.

Mark Gowdy, representing the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, provided an update on the Board’s current actions on the dissolved oxygenation efforts.

Will Stringfellow, representing the University of Pacific, provided an update on efforts related to upstream studies on the San Joaquin River.

Russ Grimes, representing Jones & Stokes, provided an update on current efforts related to the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel Aeration demonstration project.

Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel

The following presentations were made, followed by a brief question and answer opportunity, regarding on-going efforts in the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel:

  • Nitrification in the San Joaquin River – Gary Litton and Mark Brunell of University of Pacific
  • Hydrodynamics and Oxygen Modeling of the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel – Bill Fleenor of University of California Davis
  • Update on Use of Isotopic Compositions to Separate the Effects of Nitrification of Ammonium – Carol Kendal of USGS
  • San Joaquin River Dissolved Oxygen Depletion Modeling Update – Andy Thuman of Hydroqual
