September 6, 2016 Teacher Lounge
In attendance: Cheryl Converse-Rath, Michelle Irwin, David Braun, Jeremy Jessup, David Gray, Mary Kiss, Jen Marchesni, Bobby Hershey, Pilar Martinez, Pam Strongwater, Annie Fraser, Hank Bethiaume, Muriel Gross.
I. Meeting called to order at 5:00 by Cheryl Converse-Rath
II. Minutes from May 4, 2016 were approved
III. Old Business

IV. New Business
a. SR Schools Comm.
i. No report because there has been no meetings.
ii. Next meeting is in 2 weeks.
b. PTSA
i. First meeting will be on Friday (9/9/16) at 8:30 am
ii. Jenna Marchesni will speak at each of the Back-to-School nights about 2 fund raisers
1. Pledge Drive
2. Spring Parent event- yet to be planned
c. Intervention Program
i. Last year 11 classes in addition to Study Skills and (SOS) classes
1. These were temporary pull outs from Elective classes, with Parental approval, to get students back on track if they had < 2.0 in major content areas.
2. In past years, 20 or more were not eligible to walk at promotion, but this 2016 promotion only 5 unable to walk, some were due to suspension.
ii. This school year will only have two classes.
V. Round Table
a. David Braun for ASB - Current Magazine Drive is a major fund raiser with the proceeds being strictly for students. These include dances, field trips, Club Carnival, etc.
b. Parent Annie Fraser wanted to understand the change in the GATE program this year. Mrs. Irwin explained
· We are using the District’s Model A for Gate, which is 50% GATE in a class other than full GATE for English and History. Math is by Math Assessment. Most schools use Model B which is 25% GATE/class.
· Second question was: How will the teaching be more in depth for GATE students in a mixed class? Teachers use a differentiated teaching style so all can reach their potential.
