MINUTES OF THE DOCTORATE IN CLINICAL AND COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAMME TRAINING COMMITTEE (DCCPTC) HELD ON THURSDAY 20TH MAY 2010

1. Minutes of the meeting

The minutes of the meeting held on 3rd February were accepted as a correct record.

2. Matters arising from the Academic and Research committee

Due to staff sickness the meeting scheduled for 19th May was postponed but will be rearranged before the end of term.

3. Matters in relation to staff/trainee meetings

09-12 – notes of 10.05.10. meeting tabled.

Additional study time has been provided – 8 days in this calendar year plus an additional 2 days in Year 2.

At the request of the group the Case Report submission date has been extended for a week.

Eugene and Ruth to meet the group re attendance at meeting with HPC/BPS visiting teams.

08-11 – planning of Year 3 timetable discussed with the group, and possibility of opening up some of the sessions to supervisors. To ensure attendance by supervisors it was suggested that if supervisors were supervising at the present time workshops would be free, but if people had not supervised for 12 months a payment would be made. Supervisors would apply for attendance through Heads of Services.

07-10 – no staff/trainee meeting held in Year 3.

4. Matters arising from Supervisors’ Committee

Southern Supervisors’ Committee – next meeting to be held on Monday 4th October with CPD event in the afternoon on Leadership. Ruth commented that there had not been a DPT representative at the meeting for some time and David Jeffery agreed to look into this.

Pre-placement meetings – supervisors have requested pre-placement workshops in the Spring and also Autumn with the split year-long model of placements.

Wednesday 8th September – UCY Yeovil – Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3

Tuesday 14th September, Callington Road Hospital, Bristol – Year 1 10.00am-3.30pm

Monday 11th October, University of Bristol – Year 2 - 10.00am-3.30pm

Supervisors’ Committee meetings

Monday 4th October – Southern Supervisors’ committee – UCY Yeovil – 10.00am-3.30pm

Wednesday 17th November – Northern Supervisors’ committee – Cribbs Business Centre – 10.15am-3.30pm

Northern Supervisors’ Committee – Exeter programme will host the northern meeting when the Bristol programme closes in September during the transitional period until 2014. Bath will have the first intake of trainees in October 2011 with 14 commissions. Exeter will have 6 northern commissions in 2011 (12 commissions in 2010). Representation from this committee will be required for DCPTC. Chair of committee is Imogen Reid at present.

5. Service User Advisory Group

A meeting had taken place in December, attended by Tony Wainwright and staff from the Mood Disorders Centre and people who have had experience of mental health problems and services. The meeting was held to explore ways to improve the involvement of services in clinical training and research work. A further meeting will be held shortly to discuss these issues further.

6. Matters in relation to Diversity Advisory Group

Document circulated with the minutes of the last meeting. Lynn continues to work to facilitate the development of this network in a more informal way.

7. Matters in relation to Strategic Heads of Psychology

Informal meeting of Heads of Services (no minutes taken). With the Bath programme opening it was decided to invite Northern Regional Psychology Leads to the Strategic meeting.

8. Matters in relation to SW Area Placements Partnership Group

Ruth reported from the SWAPP meeting in February – minutes appended.

9. Staffing and Finance Issues

Eugene gave an update on staffing:

Louise Robb and Kim Wright on maternity leave

Kelly Camilleri and Mark Turner have left the programme.

Appointed Carolyn Evans, Clinical/Academic Tutor for Dorset 0.4wte

Clinical Tutor Somerset – Nikki Buckingham locum -post to be advertised 0.2wte.

Catherine Gallop will be returning to the programme 0.6wte Academic Tutor.

Appointed Nick Moberley, Senior Lecturer/Research Tutor – starting date tbc.

Some recruitments will be made in the north of the region for three years.

Some research cover will be undertaken at the University of Bristol and some locality teaching.
