SMAC wants YOU!

Do you like art? Campus event planning and promotion? Innovative team collaboration? If so, then the Student Museum Advisory Council (aka SMAC) is interested in you!

SMAC is a student organization at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art that is currently recruitingcreative, energetic and committed student leaders who will connect the museum to thewider campus.

As a SMAC member, you will establish relationships with many different students while interacting with museum professionals. Your SMAC experiences will help develop leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills that are essential to any career pursuit. Whether you are an incoming freshman who wants to gain experience with art and programming, or a senior who is knowledgeable with event planning, we welcome everybody to apply.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of SMAC is to:

STRENGHTEN the ties between the

MUSEUM and the main campus by raising

AWARENESS of the campus art museum, public programs, and events through

CONTRIBUTIONS of creative ideas to attract students to the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida.

GOALS OF SMAC

  • To build a bridge between the museum and the student body on campus,
  • To serve as the student voice within the museum,
  • To promote museum events and exhibitions that will appeal to UF students,
  • To raise awareness of student opportunities the museum offers
  • To plan at least two events on campus each semester,
  • To collaborate with other student organizations for events.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Students enrolled in classes at the University of Florida (minimum 6 credits),
  • Serve on the council for a minimum of one year (Fall and Spring Semesters).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings,
  • Assist during on campus events,
  • Act as an ambassador for the museum,
  • Promote the resources of Harn,
  • Work outside of their meetings to fulfill tasks,
  • Actively contribute creative ideas for events,
  • Attend at least two tours or talks per semester,
  • Sign-up for a free Harn membership.
