Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal introduces new direct rail service to Denmark

From 1st March 2015, Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal will expand its intermodal network by adding rail shuttle services to Taulov and Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Samskip Rail Terminal in Duisburg already handles a large number of rail shuttles to and from Scandinavia. The new shuttle running between Duisburg and Taulov into Copenhagen will enhance connections to customers in Denmark.

In addition,France and Spain, as well as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy and Turkey are connected by rail and shortsea.

Traction covering the new connection is being provided by DB Schenker, augmentingits services for other corridors in the Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal network that include Sweden and Italy.

The shuttle is open to all types of intermodal loading units such as 45ft containers, 13.6m (mega) trailers, reefers, tank containers and bulk containers. The train will offerthe capacity for 42 units and an A-B transit for both Taulov and Copenhagen. Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal expects to increase the frequency to six departures per week in the near future.
