College PPT Reflection
The students in my grade were given the assignment to compare two colleges of our own choice. We were instructed to use different comparison website, one being naviance. I used naviance to narrow down my choices in colleges and find two that had just about everything I was looking for. I came up with Art Center College of Design and UC Santa Cruz. Both colleges although quite different, both offer photography programs, which is what I was looking for.
Naviance really helped narrow down my search. Even showing me amazing college options I had never heard of. I got to figure out what I was looking for in a school. My two colleges had about complete opposite surroundings, but both of which I liked, modern city and nature community. What naviance showed me that gave me my conclusion are the school facts, like that art center had a much higher graduation rate then UC Santa Cruz. Naviance also showed me that art center was way more focused in the arts and most importantly photography. Putting everything in a power point, next to one another clarified for me the most. I realized the most effective PowerPointhas basic info and the presenters talk in more detail. Naviance has not just shown me two colleges; I also have a ton of other options that I’d never seen before which I will probably all apply to my senior year.
Overall I walked away with much more information on all the things colleges have to offer. Naviance narrowed down the endless choices so I could really find schools that would fulfill everything I was looking for. Seeing all my classmates’ presentations gave me examples of what makes an excellent PowerPoint and what makes a horrible one. This assignment is going to help me walk away with a better understanding of college to come.
