Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoe Box Appeal

Every year Operation Christmas Child puts smiles on faces, bringing joy and hope to children in need with gift-filled shoe boxes lovingly packed by families, churches, schools and businesses throughout Australia. Notonly does the shoe box bring joy, hope and opportunity to follow Christ, it also opens the door for Samaritan’s Purse to bless poor communities with clean water, health, education and anti-trafficking programs.

Our Parish, in conjunction with Sacred Heart Primary School, are asking parishioners, Confirmation candidates and families to give a smile to a child by following the steps below:

  • Use any shoebox (lid no larger than A4) or collect a pre-printed shoe box at the back of the Church. (To cover costs, we are asking for a 50cent donation for each pre-printed show box you take. Please leave the donation in the tin available next to collection point. Thank you) AND
  • Collect a printed pamphlet that has labels, list of prohibited items, packingguide, etc. AND
  • Donate items to be packed and sent over to children in need (some wonderful gift ideas are listed on the back of this notice), the packing team will add these items to existing boxes OR
  • Pack a complete shoe box (see flyer for guide/ideas) AND
  • Make a donation of $9 per shoe box to cover project costs so the boxes can behand delivered to countries such as Vanuatu, Vietnam, Fiji, Thailand and Papua New Guinea.

We understand that people may not be able to purchase items AND pay the $9 donation, so we ask those who do not wish to purchase items, to please donate $9 per shoe box as a “sponsorship” for boxes already packed. Please put the cash in an envelope with “Shoe box appeal” on it, and drop it into the Parish office or leave in the weekend collection. Without the donation, the shoe box cannot be sent.

Thank you for your support and contribution, together we can make a difference. All donations, gifts & shoe boxes need to be returned to the Church by 27th Sept.
