Dear «Last_Name»:

On behalf of Chancellor Gordon Gee and the Vanderbilt University Parents Campaign, we invite you to serve on the 2004-05 Vanderbilt Parents Leadership Committee. We were members of this Committee during our son Matt’s freshman year and are honored to head it up this year. Through our involvement, we’ve enjoyed an inside look at the initiatives and leadership that make Vanderbilt unique among the nation’s top universities. We’ve also met interesting families from across the country who care deeply about one another and the larger Vanderbilt family of which we are all a part.

The Parents Leadership Committee provides University administrators with valuable insight into the Vanderbilt undergraduate experience and offers crucial leadership to the parent fundraising efforts. The leadership team hosts regional events, signs solicitation appeals, welcomes new parents, attends special gatherings on campus, and choose to make gifts of $5,000 or more annually to the University. Most parents choose to designate their gifts to their student’s undergraduate school. The overall time commitment for committee members is quite modest but definitely worthwhile.

Our first Leadership Committee meeting for this year will be held on Saturday, October 2nd 2004. We hope you will join us and help build the leadership team into the best possible support group. Please let us hear from you no later than September 20th, 2004. We have enclosed a response form. Contributions may be made any time prior to the end of Vanderbilt’s fiscal year, June 30, 2005. Upon receiving your positive response, Shawn Briggs, Director of the Parents & Grandparents Campaign Office, will forward information regarding the October 2nd activities.

We hope to see you on campus soon and thank you for considering our request.
