District Instructional TechnologySpecialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with digital literacy and integration of technology in the educational environment
  • Master’s Degree and South Carolina Teaching Certification preferred
  • Three years teaching experience preferred
  • Willingness to research best practices and obtain broad knowledge of teaching practices across grade levels and core subject areas
  • Any combination of the above skills and experience as the administration may find acceptable and appropriate

OBJECTIVE: The Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) will facilitate change in instructional technology practices of teachers that will enable teachers to plan more productively; and teach more effectively. The ITC will provide personalized support, training, and assistance to individual teachers; will develop and implement programs and projects related to curriculum and technology integration; and will assist the IT department in the support and management of multiple devices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide leadership for teachers by planning, collaborating, organizing, mentoring and facilitating change to improve the instructional technology program.
  • Provide knowledge of appropriate standards, content, materials, and resources.
  • Actively participate in the coordination of activities and projects involving multiple departments of the district and provides technology consulting advice in joint initiatives between technology and instructional staff.
  • Facilitate and deliver professional development for teachers on district-wide, school-wide, and individual levels.
  • Observe teachers in their classrooms and offer insight for the enhancement of instructional technology teaching-learning situations.
  • Conduct model lessons for teachers as needed.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of instructional technology and other educational tools to enhance and extend instruction.
  • Infuse technology into the core areas of academic curriculum; providing input and recommendations regarding software and hardware purchases for site technology plans; and provide input/insight on ways to increase teachers’ use of technology as it positively impacts student performance in the classroom.
  • Develop instructional technology solutions and related training materials for the purpose of providing users with tools needed to utilize emerging instructional technology to enhance student learning.
  • Collect and analyze data and present the information to administrators, teacher task-force, and other groups as assigned.
  • Establish, maintain and enhance effective communication with administrators, co-workers, teachers, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and recommend innovative instructional technologies.
  • Pursue professional development which contributes to the overall success of the position, and strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend local, regional and national technology conferences and workshops provided funding is available.
  • Utilize excellent oral and written communication skills for documenting, presenting and communicating technology initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires prolonged sitting or standing; occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 25 pounds; occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
