A. INSPECT SALTWATER SPRINKLING SYSTEM PIPING AND COMPONENTS: / 5221 SERIES
1. Is the system free of leaks at all components:
a. Fire main supply root cutout valve and piping?
b. Sprinkling control valve and piping?
c. Sprinkler heads and piping?
d. Gage lines and isolation valves?
e. Flow or water switch?
f. Flow test assembly and valve?
g. Flush-out hose valve?
h. Low-point drain valve?
i. Sprinkler line testers?
j. Sprinkler test connection and valves?
k. High point vent valve?
l. Emergency supply hose valve?
2. Is the piping/valve hand wheels properly color coded (red for sprinkler root valves) and labeled with direction of flow? / REF. (C)
3. Remove air test fitting. Verify there is no water present. (Dry system only)
4. Is the plastic or lead wire seal present on cover.
5. Is the locking key and anti-tampering seal properly installed and intact on the manual control valve?
6. Is there a minimum of 40 PSI firemain present to activate system.
7. Is the firemain gage in proper working order?
B. INSPECT DRY TYPE SPRINKLER HEADS: / 5221 SERIES
1. Are the orifices free from dirt?
2. Is there any damage to the sprinkler heads, (broken arms or deflectors), if installed?
3. Are the sprinkler heads securely
mounted?
4. Are the sprinkler heads free from obstructions to discharge spray?
C. INSPECT WET TYPE SPRINKLER HEADS: / 5221 SERIES
1. Are the sprinkler heads free of paint, dust and dirt?
2. Is there any damage to the sprinkler heads, (broken arms or deflectors)?
3. Is the glass bulb the right type? / REF. (D)
4. Is there any signs of leakage on the heads?
5. Are the sprinkler heads free from obstructions to discharge spray?
D. INSPECT WATER SWITCH (Ship’s with circuit key alarm panels or fire/smoke detection switchboards): / 5221 SERIES
1. Are there any cracks or carbonizing on the insulator?
2. Are all electrical connections tight?
3. Are there any cuts, tears or deformation to the gasket and o-ring?
E. TEST FLOW OR WATER SWITCH: / 5221 SERIES
1. Did the switch activate alarm in CCS or at alarm panel?
2. Did the alarm reset in CCS or at alarm panel?
F. TEST 2-POSITION OR 3-POSITION DRY TYPE SEAWATER SPRINKLER SYSTEM: / 5221 SERIES
1. Is the test fitting gasket/o-ring free from deterioration?
2. Did the handle locking pin engage when the manual control valve was placed in the open position?
3. Did the sprinkler control valve position indicator travel smoothly to the open position?
4. Did the handle locking pin engage when closing the manual control valve?
5. Did the sprinkler control valve travel smoothly to the closed position?
G. TEST 3-POSITION DRY TYPE REMOTE MANUAL CONTROL: / 5221 SERIES
1. Did the handle locking pin engage when the remote manual control valve was placed in the open position?
2. Did the sprinkler control valve position indicator travel smoothly to the open position?
3. Did the handle locking pin engage when closing the remote manual control valve?
4. Did the sprinkler control valve travel smoothly to the closed position?
