Outline of duties
This block during the F2 year will be the focus for academic development although there will be regular meetings, opportunities for development and supervision by the nominated academic supervisor and site lead during the F1 year to prepare the trainee for this 4 month research project period (it replaces the specialty option). The aim is to nurture research interest and application alongside the development of sound foundation competencies and to prepare the trainee for further scholarship. There will be opportunities to link in with the Trust R&D and Deanery Academic Foundation Programmes training sessions.
It is expected that the outcome will be a piece of high quality research or equivalent that will be presented by the trainee at a North West annual academic meeting as part of the assessment of the module.
The research departments all have an established track record and are willing and able to support trainees’ academic and practical needs. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who have an established specific interested in the following specific disciplines for which we provide details of further information.
Placements by academic speciality will be discussed with the successful applicants after appointment.
If your area of chosen interest would involve an academic placement at a different centre in the Manchester area this can be accommodated.
There will be no on-call commitments for the academic block; these will be basic hours posts.
