SALES AND EVENTS MANAGER (12-month fixed term contract)

Reports to: Head of Commercial

Direct reports:Hospitality Supervisor and Sales and Events Co-ordinator

Working hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £33,580 per annum

Based at Coin Street neighbourhood centre, 108 Stamford Street, South Bank London SE1 9NH

We are seeking an outgoing proactive Sales & Events Manager to deliver increased revenue and occupancy for our conference and meetings business. You will be responsible for securing sales from new and existing clients as well as managing event logistics in close liaison with our operational team.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage, develop and motivate the hospitality supervisor and sales and events co-ordinator to ensure that conference team aims and KPI’s are achieved and exceeded.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to all incoming sales enquiries, providing appropriate information, follow up, conducting show rounds to convert enquiries to bookings
  • Identify new opportunities to develop and widen the client base
  • Attend industry events to increase awareness of our venues
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts in the industry
  • Maintain and grow the sales contact database to provide valid client information for marketing and promotional activity
  • Assess previous events for new leads to encourage repeat business
  • In conjunction with the marketing team develop marketing collateral in all appropriate formats and media to ensure effective promotion of the meetings and conference space
  • Ensure that all services relating to the conference and meetings business provided in CSnc meet the client’s needs and events are run effectively.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure all aspects of their events are understood, advising as appropriate if arrangements need consideration
  • Liaise with external suppliers where necessary to deliver the event as required
  • Ensure all information relating to an event is promptly recorded on the booking system to keep a clear communication channel between the sales and operations teams to ensure the smooth delivery of events
  • Keep the booking system updated to allow accurate and prompt invoicing and ordering of suppliers as appropriate
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to achieve an overall client/customer satisfaction rating of 95% excellent and good
  • Maintain positive supplier relationships to ensure a consistent and excellent service is provided
  • Regularly review supply contracts and tender as appropriate to ensure the supply is competitive
  • Keep abreast of market trends to ensure that suppliers deliver a contemporary and relevant service
  • Ensure the service provided by suppliers reflects well on organisation and represents values of Coin Street
  • Contract bookings in a timely manner and ensure that clients meet all agreed deadlines
  • Record progress of all enquiries and prepare reports as requested by the Head of Commercial
  • Effectively communicate sales and events information to internal stakeholders and advise the Head of Commercial where appropriate
  • Ensure records of correspondence and other documentation is filed correctly
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure spaces are maintained properly
  • Review the needs of the venues and make recommendations for improvements and refurbishments
  • Conduct competitor analysis of marketing, best practice and pricing strategies

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge and experience

  • Educated to degree level or professional qualifications in a relevant field
  • Extensive experience in proactive sales environment preferably in conference business
  • Proven track record of business development planning and meeting/exceeding sales targets

  • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
  • Highly organised and able to manage conflicting priorities to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate including use of Microsoft Office Packages, databases and event booking systems

  • Managing client expectations and demands, including handling complaints effectively
  • Available to attend evening and occasional overnight or weekend meetings/events
  • Ability to solve problems and overcome challenges in short notice
