PROJECT TRAINING CO-ORDINATOR

Hours: 37 per week day/evening and some Saturday’s as required

Salary: Starting at £19,770, rising to £20,973 in year 2, Plus employers contribution of 5% pension.

Period of Employment: 1st January 2006– 31st December 2007

Four weeks annual leave plus 8 Bank Holidays

Accountable to: Project Manager and Trustee Board

  1. Basic function: to co-ordinate and implement the Tanyard Youth Project Ltd's ESF POPPI project portfolio in line with agreed targets, policies and procedures
  2. To develop and deliver a structured accredited training programme for young people aged 14-19years who have become disengaged from learning and for those who are not in education or employment training.
  3. To ensure that under-represented groups of young people have ready access to Tanyard Ltd training programmes in line with its Equal Opps and Diversity policies and to support their continued involvement with Tanyard Ltd training programmes.
  4. To develop the training programme portfolio through partnerships with local agencies and by other means and to contribute to the local and regional development of the Tanyard Youth Project Ltd's training programmes.

Key Tasks

  1. Overall development and delivery of a training programme amongst disengaged young people – to include consultation with young people (assessment of needs).
  2. Develop and deliver target based programme of training and learning opportunities e.g. skills for working life, PTxl, Duke of Edinburgh, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Entry Level and National Vocational Qualifications, Health & Safety etc, Informal and formal educational opportunities; accredited and non-accredited schemes.
  3. Link with existing agencies and foster good relationships with statutory/community groups.
  4. To work closely with PembrokeSchool, Youth Offending Team and Careers Wales and other potential partners.
  5. Development of Project as an accredited training centre
  6. To monitor and evaluate session delivery in line with Tanyard Youth Project Ltd’s policies and procedures
  7. To keep accurate and up to date records in line with policies and procedures
  8. To provide timely and accurate reports and information as required by the Project Manager and Trustee Board
  9. To attend internal and external meetings and undertake training when required
  10. To assist with the development and expansion of Tanyard Ltd training programmes in accordance with the Youth Work Curriculum Statement for Wales.
  11. To undertake other functional tasks as required by Management
  12. To represent the Tanyard Youth Project Ltd in the best possible manner at all times and to promote the good name and image of the Tanyard Project Ltd.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

1. Commitment to developing young people to full potential.

2. Experience of delivering training and development in a target based environment.

3. Experience of paid or voluntary youth work.

4. Excellent written and communication skills.

5. Excellent management of information skills.

6. Ability to prioritise workload in accordance with requirements of post.

7. Caring attitude.

8. Flexibility and adaptability.

9. Enthusiastic personality.

10. Ability to relate to young people but especially those aged between 10-19 years.

11. Commitment to equal opportunities.
