JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible to: Director of ICT Services

JOB PURPOSE: To assist on a range of IT issues within the school and to ensure the maintenance and development of the curriculum and administration network systems.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To maintain the school's network infrastructure and computer suites to the standard laid down by the Director of ICT Services and to keep all IT equipment and software running smoothly throughout the School.

Desktop and Application Support

To provide software and hardware technical end-user support to the school systems users (over 1500) including teaching staff, students, administration staff and parents.

●Set up school owned Windows and Mac client machines, deploy school software. Follow instructions to install and upgrade client/server applications. Identify and install essential software patches. Identify application compatibility issues . Create and deploy MDS packages suitable for the network

●Perform a wide range of hardware repairs and upgrades. Detect, diagnose and resolve most PC, printer and peripheral device faults.

●Ensure school owned Client based Windows systems, Macs and Chromebooks devices are performing adequately. Develop appropriate knowledge of end user operating systems e.g. Windows X, Android X, Chrome, MacOS X and iOS

●Deploy and maintain school printers

●Perform installation of printer consumables and printer administration

●Perform installation of projector consumables and assist users on the set-up of projectors and other audio-visual equipment as required

●Return any non-functioning IT equipment promptly for repair or replacement

●Be responsible for the safe storage of all IT equipment. To maintain an inventory of computer hardware and software and be responsible for their security marking. To maintain stocks of disposable items.

●Liaise with staff so as to gain a thorough understanding of what is required of a school's intranet, to better complement the needs and demands of the whole school

Support Request Management:

●Be responsible for ICT helpdesk and Support Requests on a rota basis

●Interpret helpdesk information, Prioritise resolution and determine whether external support is required

●Work with the ICT team to allocate tasks between ICT support staff, including recording requested work, following up calls/requests and implementing a maintenance schedule.

●Produce reports from the support log to provide basic management information on the volume and nature of requests

Server and Network Support

●Maintain Network Infrastructure - administration and maintenance of all wired, wireless systems, switch cabinets, switches, servers, firewall, web filtering, Audio Visual systems, telephone systems, data cabling.

●Create, modify and maintain networking Vlans

●Trace and troubleshoot data cabling issues. Audit data cabinets.

●Commission as required and record new hardware into inventory.

●Active Directory, Group Policy, Management information and Email systems Administration (creation, modification, general Administration and removal User Accounts and Mailboxes)

●Set disk space and printer quotas • Manage Group Policies • Create and deploy network scripts • Create network shares and manage access rights • Monitor systems logs

Continuity, Maintenance & Security

●Update firmware, operating systems and applications on all server and client machines as directed by the Director of ICT Services. Develop appropriate knowledge

●Perform daily checks to ensure all critical systems, Wifi and network services are operating to necessary standards

●Perform daily checks to ensure all critical Server systems have completed necessary backup schedules successfully

●Ensure Client and Server Windows systems adhere to the Company standards of Virus protection and ensure all Windows systems are running the latest Anti-Virus signatures.

●Monitor and manage server logs and use them to inform further maintenance/developments/support

Personal ICT Competencies

●Actively seek to broaden knowledge and skills. Develop appropriate knowledge of Operating Systems, Database systems, Network Infrastructure and any associated applications. Take extensive notes and apply to a shared knowledge base

Website Design and maintenance

●Develop and maintain the school intranet/internet website, as required.

●To advise the Director of ICT Services on a daily basis on issues that arise

●To assist the Director of ICT Services on a range of IT projects

●To carry out any duties commensurate with the level of the post as requested by the Director Of ICT Services
