Role: Lecturer in Maths

Salary: £23,382 - £35,304 per annum, pro rata where applicable

Accountable to:Faculty Area Manager (Maths)

Accountable for:The development, preparation and delivery of maths programmes across a variety of provision. Delivering outstanding effective teaching, learning and assessment on the part time and cross-college Maths provision. Providing clear and effective communication to faculty areas on the progress of student performance and taking appropriate actions to ensure students achieve the highest grades.

Portfolio of responsibilities:

  • Working with the Faculty Area Managers/Progress Tutors and other cross-College colleagues to drive forward the College and government agenda to improve Maths standards and achievements. This will involve planning and delivery of excellent teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Developing outstanding resources which are innovative and engage the different student cohorts.
  • Provide good opportunities to develop skills outside the classroom, using technology to provide a flexible approach to study and supporting students to achieve the highest grades.
  • Motivate and inspire students to exceed their expectations and develop high level skills expected by employers and universities.
  • Ensure students produce a high standard of work and are empowered to take ownership of their studies and completion of tasks, resulting in excellent outcomes and progression opportunities.
  • Work with the Maths and faculty teams to further develop a dynamic curriculum which meets with student and employer needs.
  • Carry out those duties which ensure information to support the process of students’ entry, progression, achievement and destination is recorded on the College systems effectively and efficiently.
  • Complete registration and completion documentation and monitor student attendance and achievement, taking appropriate action as required.
  • Ensure students are fully prepared for employment through programmes of outstanding and innovative teaching, learning and assessment, closely linking the syllabus to employer and vocational contexts.
  • Ensure students are equipped with the high level English or Maths skills necessary for progression to Higher Education or work.
  • Collaborate with the Professional Services colleagues to ensure all students have access to excellent resources to maximise their learning potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in developing, implementing and evaluating innovative strategies to enhance the student experience at Nottingham College.
  • Identify personal professional development needs and work to achieve continuous improvement in professional practice.
  • Contribute to and participate in quality assurance initiatives as appropriate.
  • Participate in classroom observation activities.
  • Review and evaluate lessons/courses within area of responsibility, with a view to continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the course and team planning review processes / action plan and attend regular team meetings.
