‘Keeping Safe & Healthy’

Look at what we will be learning – Keeping Safe & Healthy

Communication and Language. Literacy.
  • Revision of all letters sounds.
  • Revisiting/learning ff, ll, ss, sh, ch, th, igh, wh, ng, ay, ee, oo, ow sounds & words with such sounds in.
  • Learn letter names, lower case and capital letters.
  • Saying the beginning, middle and end sound in words.
  • Attempt to write simple words by sounding them out, including keywords, in a variety of contexts e.g. birthday cards, invitations, shopping lists, stories.
  • Writing sentences, using a capital letter, finger spaces & a full stop.
  • Reading – use pictures, sounding out and finger pointing to help reading.
  • Handwriting – practising correct letter formation.
Maths.
  • Counting in ones, twos, fives and tens.
  • Number bonds to 10, e.g. 7+3=10, 4+6=10.
  • Doubles, such as 1 +1=2, 2 +2= 4, 3+3=6.
  • Finding one more and one less than a given number to 20.
  • Reading, writing and ordering numbers 1 – 20 firstly then beyond.
  • Understand addition as putting two sets of objects together and subtraction as taking away.
  • Weighing objects – through games and experimenting with scales e.g. baking cakes and weighing the ingredients.
  • Ordering objects by length, height and capacity.
  • Positional language, such as on, off, under, behind, in front etc.
  • Estimate how many objects they can see.
  • 2.d & 3.d shapes-learning correct name & finding out about their properties, such as 3 corners & sides.
  • Time-o’clock & half past. Plus ordering events in time.
/ Understanding of the World
  • Looking at changes over time and carrying out experiments.
  • Look at different occupations.
  • Looking at our local environment & comparing it to others.
  • Barnaby Bear visits different countries.
  • Finding out about materials & forces.
Physical Development
  • Continuing to develop fine motor skills e.g. using tweezers to move seeds.
  • Working in pairs and groups using balls, bats, hoops & beanbags.
  • Throwing, catching, rolling and bouncing a ball.
  • Observing the effects that exercise has on their bodies.
  • Looking at a balanced diet & healthy/unhealthy food.
  • Looking after our teeth & how we can keep fit & safe.
PSED.
R.E: Good news –Children will learn that everyone has good news to share and Pentecost is the celebration of the Good news of Jesus. Friends – Children will learn that wecan all make friends,Jesus had good friends and we can learn a lot about friendship from Jesus.
  • Have a developing awareness of their own needs, views and feelings, and be sensitive to the needs, views and feelings of others.
  • To adjust behaviour to different situations/events.
  • To negotiate and solve problems.

Expressive Art and Design .

  • Looking at artist’s work-work in similar style. (Henry Moore/Picasso)
  • Experimenting using different mediums & media. For example, charcoal, watercolours, clay & collage.
  • Music-singing songs & playing instruments. Changing sound of instruments.
  • Construct with a purpose in mind, plan and adapt work.
