Do Nows-

In Spanish class, you are required to keep a “Do Now” sheet for all warm up exercises. Done mostly everyday, students will walk in and find a short assignment on the boar. Students are to come in, sit down, and complete the activity on their Do Now sheet. Do Nows are an individual effort and they will be stamped every day to get credit and add up to one daily grade every three weeks.

Important warm up requirements:

  1. Date ALL warm-ups with

“Hoy es el __day__ de _month__ de__year__”

  1. Write your name on the top right corner of the page.
  2. Keep track of every single warm up. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to write the date for your absence, and the word “ausente”. You will NOT be penalized for not having that assignment, UNLESS you forget to write the date and “ausente.”

Participation

Participation is crucial to your success in this class. The teacher will be using Spanish in class most of the time, but if you are actively engaged in what is going on in class you will have no trouble understanding what is going on. It is impossible to learn a language without practicing reading, writing, listening and speaking the language.

GRADING POLICY

Daily grades = 50% (warm-ups, quizzes, homework, class work, online participation)

Major grades = 50% (tests, projects, Performance assessments)

Students will keep track of their grades in Skyward. Should you or your parents find, upon receiving your progress report average or before, that you are not as successful as you would like to be, an appointment should be made with me at that time. The last week of the nine weeks is an inappropriate time to show a first concern for your grade.

Other grade information

Make-ups: Quizzes and/or exams must be made up within a week of your return or it will be marked as a zero. Homework is to be made up within as many days as you were absent from class. It is your responsibility to turn it in on time.

Late work: Late workschool policy will be implemented. One day late 15 pointsoff of grade earned;two days late 30 points off of grade earned; after that I will not be accepting late work.

Retest/test corrections: Students are encouraged to make retests or test corrections on tests where they have earned lower than a 75. The highest grade they can earn is a 75.

Homework:Since homework prepares students for successful performance on quizzes and tests and contributes to mastery of curriculum objectives, I expect all assignments to be completed carefully and thoroughly before the next class meeting. Students should expect to have homework completed by the due date. Homework will count as a daily gradeat the end of every gradingperiod. It is a completion grade.

EXTRA CREDIT – CRÉDITO EXTRA: NO extra credits will be given to any student. There will be plenty of opportunities to pass the subject: homework, class work, quizzes, projects, oral quizzes, tests.
