Parish Council Meeting Minutes

OFFICERS: Father Gregory Safchuk, President Michael Thompson, and Treasurer Matthew Nimmer

COUNCIL MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE: Justin Barber, Martha Baxtresser, John Bilyeu, Paulina Masick, Michael Mihailov, Skip Mersereau, and Karen Phinney

I.  OPENING PRAYER:

Father Gregory led the opening prayer at 6:25 pm.

II.  PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:

The July 2016 Parish Council meeting minutes were reviewed. Karen Phinney motioned and Michael Mihailov seconded to accept the minutes. Motion carried.

III.  RECTOR’S REPORT: Report from Father Gregory.

-  The Shady Grove Pregnancy banquet will be on October 16 after church. Please let Fr. Gregory know if you would like to attend.

- Congratulations in advance to Alex Masick and Kara Hovseth on their upcoming wedding.

- Congratulations in advance to Helen Kerch and Steven Wilcox on their upcoming wedding.

-  We received a thank you letter from the Pan-Orthodox Singles group along with a generous donation.

-  Fr. Gregory thanked everyone for their love, support, and help during and after the death of his father, Protodeacon Basil.

IV.  PRESIDENT’S REPORT: None

V.  TREASURER’S REPORT: Matthew Nimmer gave financial report for July 2016. Income was a bit low, but that is normal for the summer. John Bilyeu motioned to accept the treasurer's report and Karen Phinney seconded. Motion carried.

VI.  CORRESPONDENCE/ FACILITY REQUEST:

None.

VII.  OLD BUSINESS

1. PARISH BY-LAWS - No update.

2. ELECTRIC METER – Warren Miller and Michael Mihailov are working with our electric company. According to the meter, it appears that we have been overpaying.

3. SECURITY SYSTEM – Michael Mihailov met with a representative from Vector security and did a walk through of our facility. Michael discussed various security systems and the pros and cons of each. The security committee is figuring out what type of security system we need and then will start obtaining quotes.

6. ADA DOOR OPENER - No update.

7. OTHER OLD BUSINESS – None.

1.  September Council Meeting – Saturday, September 10

2.  October Council Meeting – Saturday, October 22

3.  Annual Parish Meeting – Sunday, November 20

4.  November Council Meeting – Saturday, November 19

5.  Other New Business – None.

IX.  ADJOURNMENT & CLOSING PRAYER:

Skip Mersereau motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Karen Phinney. Motion carried. Father Gregory closed the meeting with prayer at 7:15pm.
