Saint David’s Burial Service Plan

“Baptized Christians are properly buried from the Church.” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 490).

The Eucharist is normally offered for the departed and the living. In the Eucharist we share with the community of saints in the banquet of God’s Kingdom. By sharing in the Communion of the Crucified and Risen Lord, we are given hope of the "Resurrection of the Dead and the Life of the world to Come.”

1.) Calling hours before a funeral may take place at the Church, a custom we encourage. While most Americans are familiar with calling hours at a funeral home, there is a long-standing Christian tradition of calling hours being held at the Church. This practice allows family, friends, and congregation to gather in the place that has been the deceased’s spiritual home for fellowship and prayer prior to the service. Please speak with one of the clergy if you want to learn more about this custom.
