BAPTISMS
Baptisms are every Sunday at 1:00 PM. Parents are asked to call the Parish Center and speak with the Priest or Deacon who is on call and who will assist them in registering their child for Baptism. The Church assists the parents by offering instruction on the meaning, importance, and responsibilities of the sacrament of Baptism. A Pre-Jordan Baptismal Program for helping parents prepare for the spiritual birth of their child is held on the fourth Sunday of the month in the Spirituality Center following the Noon Mass.
WEDDINGS
Couples planning to marry are asked to contact a Parish priest to make arrangements for a wedding.

Dear Parishioners,
Labor Day
There will be one Mass on Labor Day at 9:00 AM. As a community of faith, let us assemble to express our praise and thanks to God for people’s ability to work. God has blessed us with skills and talents that enable us to work. We are blessed by the work done by others.
The Labor & Work of Our Military
We continue to remember in prayer the men and women in the military who continue to sacrifice and work to promote freedom and peace. The military face danger each day especially in those countries of the world where there is war, conflict, and terrorism. May God bless and protect them.
Laboring for the Parish
I am most grateful to all who labor, work, volunteer, give of their time, talent, and love to help Saint Anselm Parish and School fulfill its mission.
Labor Day- Parish Center Closed- No Exposition
Sunday Evening Mass
The Sunday evening will resume next Sunday, September 9th at 7:00 PM. Please note the change in time.
6:30 AM Daily Mass
The 6:30 AM daily Mass will resume on Monday, September 10th in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in the Spirituality Center.
Opening of School
Many schools will resume this week if they have not done so already. Saint Anselm School will open on Wednesday.
Please remember teachers and students in your prayers. May students be graced with an openness to learn and discover. May teachers be open to receive the many blessings that God will bestow upon them to help them fulfill their vocation as teachers.
Tuition Assistance
There are a few families in our parish who could use some assistance in paying their tuition to Saint Anselm School. Low income, unemployment or sickness has caused the need. If anyone is able and willing to help, please contact me.
CCD (Level 7) Confirmation Class
Classes begin next Sunday, September 9th at 10:45 AM.

School Security & Entrance to School Building
The world in which we live has caused the implementation of many security and safety precautions. All schools, including Saint Anselm School, are concerned about the safety of students, teachers and others in the school building. All in the school need to be protected from violent and angry persons and, at times, from non-custodial parents.
All visitors to Saint Anselm School are to enter the school building via the outside door to the main office. This door is on the schoolyard side of the school and it is accessible from the parking lot behind the school.
Visitors mean everyone – parents, lunch mothers, volunteers, sales persons, and people in parish organizations who have school business.
People coming to purchase Scrip are to enter the Scrip room, which also has a door accessible from the back parking lot.
All visitors must sign in and out. In the event of a fire or fire drill, the secretary needs to take this book with her as she exits a building just as a teacher takes her roll book so the school can check that all have made it safely out of the building.
Please do not try to enter the school through the Church or the Parish Center.
Please cooperate with this. Thank you.
10 Miles per Hour in the Parking Lot
The beginning of a new school year is a good time for us to remind all drivers to drive slowly in the parking lot. During school hours and even after school hours, children are in the parking lot which is also a school yard for recreational activities.
Parking – School Hours
During school hours, please do not park in the parking lot area nearest the school. This part of the parking lot boarded by the Church and school will be used for school recess and for the after school CARES program. Also, should there be an emergency, no parking in this area will give free access to the school building for emergency response vehicles such as fire engines and ambulances.
There is plenty of parking back by the garage and fence.
Elementary Students –Collection Envelopes
Sunday collection envelopes for students in our School/CCD will be distributed the first week of class.
High School Students – Collection Envelopes
Sunday collection envelopes for our High School students are available in the back of the Church.
Collection for Black and Indian Missions
Next weekend, there will also be a collection for the Missions in our country which serve Black and Native American Peoples. Many of these Missions were begun by Mother Katharine Drexel. This collection also benefits a number of parishes and programs within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Parish Visitation
Father Friel, Deacon Whartenby, Deacon Warner and Fr. Dunleavy will be doing the annual Parish Visitation during September. The purpose of our visit is simply to say hello, to meet you in your home, to ask if the Church can help you in any way, and to say a prayer to ask God’s blessing on your family and home.
We will visit between 5:30 and 8:00 PM. The Sunday Bulletin each week will list the streets of the homes that will be visited on a given evening that week. The homes to be visited this week are:
ACADEMY ROAD Thursday – September 6th:
3602 – 3658 (even #’s) Father Friel
3651 – 3674 Father Dunleavy
3700 - 3736 Deacon Warner
TORREY ROAD Thursday, September 6th

History of Saint Anselm Parish
A Descriptive and Pictorial History of Saint Anselm Parish is now being written and will soon be published.
Patrons, Memorials, and Business Ads will be inscribed in the 50 year History Book. You are invited to have your name placed in the Book as a Patron. Parishioners are also invited to have the name of a deceased loved one memorialized in the Book. Businesses are also invited to sponsor the publication of the history by placing their Business Ad in the Book.
Forms that were mailed to you or the forms on pages 7 & 8 in this bulletin can be used to submit your patron or memorial. Additional forms are available at the Parish Center or you may copy the forms mailed to you. Please submit your form(s) by September 16, 2012.
Everyone who becomes a patron or places a memorial or business ad will be given an Anniversary History Book of Saint Anselm Parish.
God Bless You,
Father Dunleavy
