Ø Open discussion on closing of Senior Services of Northern Kentucky
o Meals on Wheels and some transportation have been absorbed by Wesley Community Services.
o NKADD tasked with sending alerts.

Guest Speaker Presentation
· St. Elizabeth Physicians Social Work Team-Carrie Tribbe and Kari Ward
o The team gave an overview of their role at St. Elizabeth Physician primary care offices in Northern Kentucky; their role as patient advocates began in April 2015 in 28 offices in the Northern Kentucky area. So far they have helped 89 patients that were referred to them.
o Criteria for patient advocacy: (Criteria may adjust over time as deemed necessary)
§ 75 years of age or older (may be younger if other criteria exists average age of persons helped is 66 years of age)
§ Fall risk
§ 3 medical diagnosis
§ Depression screening (15 or higher-ATQ9 medical tool)
§ Housing issue
§ Transportation issue
§ 2 Hospitalizations within a year
§ Below the poverty level
§ 2 no shows for appointments
o Patient Advocates assist eligible participants with:
§ Transportation
§ Co-pays
§ Home Health Care
§ Housing Options
§ Domestic Violence
§ Utilities
§ Education
§ Budgeting
§ Referrals to resources
§ Disaster Relief
o Other agencies may self-refer

· Northern Kentucky Strengthening Families - Delisa Ford-Edwards
o The purpose of NKY Strengthening Families is to intervene and provide support to families identified via certain risk factors. The agency is collaborating with 4C’s for Children and The City of Covington.
o Focus area is the 9 counties of Northern Kentucky. Northern Kentucky Strengthening Families is comprised of work groups and a steering committee.
o Through study on social policy and child development NKY Strengthening Families has identified 6 Risk Factors to consider:
§ Parental resiliency
§ Social connections
§ Knowledge of child/parental development
§ Concrete support
§ Social and emotional wellbeing
§ Nurturing and attachment

Food Committee
o Spring gathering at the Giving Fields date to be announced early 2016.
o GAP training by the Cooperative Extension Office will be announced in early 2016.
o Kroger has had a boost in donations of bread and produce to food pantries.
o Please RSVP for the next Food Committee meeting to Andy Brunsman.
o Next Food Committee Meeting is at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 11th at the Boone County Enrichment Center.
Web Committee
o Alerts are back up
o Funding via grants are being sought to increase capacity for the Safety Net Portal.
o Next Web Committee meeting is at 8:15 am, Tuesday, November 10th at Brighton Center Family Center.
Furniture Task Force
o Sweet Dreams NKY has set a tentative date of March 19th, 2016 to build 50 twin size beds for Northern Kentucky area children. The SNA Furniture Task Force believes that having a bed to sleep in is vital to the stabilization of families.
§ Bed distribution will be split between Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties via a random lottery system.
§ Referrals will be accepted from all SNA partners in good standing, attending 6 of 11 meetings in the last 12 months. ( per voting rules)
o 10 people were in attendance at the October SNA Furniture Task Force meeting.
o SNA Furniture Task Force will begin fundraising efforts after the United Way blackout period ends November 1st, 2015.
o Next Furniture Task Force meeting is 3:30 PM, Wednesday, November 18th at Brighton Center Family Center. Contact Talia Frye at
Housing Task Force
o The task force would like to see landlords and others coming to the table regarding solutions to the housing shortage in NKY; possible events are being discussed.
o Survey will be put out to landlords via housing agencies when approved.
o Maggie Volkering and Brandy Medaugh are currently working on a letter to landlords.
o Next Housing Task Force Meeting is at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 18th, St. John’s UCC after the SNA General Meeting. For more information contact Brandy Medaugh at
Executive Committee
o The SNA Executive Committee is seeking 3 at large candidates to fill vacancies; nominations will be accepted and will be voted on at the next SNA General meeting November 18th.
o All Executive Directors from SNA Partner Agencies will be invited to a meeting by December 1st, 2015 to review and vote on the Agreement to Collaborate and Partner Agency forms before distribution in January 2016. SNA Agreements to Collaborate will be sent out to all agencies to sign in an upcoming renewal period. Protocols are currently being reviewed and revised by the SNA Executive Committee. Protocols will be posted on SNA portal regarding membership to the SNA.

o Welcome Grace Penn from BB&T:
§ Grace is a community liaison for the Hispanic community and assists first time homebuyers; she is also assisting the Safety Net Alliance with grants to help fund several community projects as well as technology grants to increase the capacity of the Safety Net portal.
o Welcome Cathy Winston for WIC:
§ Cathy shared information about the WIC program and the produce perks program which she is hoping to expand.
o Welcome Mahesh Bhupalam and Sandra Estrada from World Financial Group:
§ World Financial Group offers financial education workshops.
o Delisa Ford- Edwards announced Bright Days Child Development Center will be expanding their services to include second shift beginning 12/1/2015; there are 30 openings for the second shift daycare expansion
o Shannon O’Neill-American Red Cross announced free smoke detector giveaway in Boone, Kenton and Campbell County; they are currently looking for volunteers to handle installation of the smoke detectors.
o Welcome new staff member at Brighton CET -Jennifer Warner- Financial Coach
o Brandy Medaugh from Catholic Charities announced :
§ No available housing options are available at this time.
§ Hiring case managers full time with a bachelor’s degree.
§ Hiring a floor manager for Parish Kitchen.
o Paul Gottbrath from Be Concerned announced they are accepting referrals from agencies for food resources.
o Melissa Adamchik from Tri-State Trauma announced their upcoming Toxic Stress Workshop on November 19th, 8:30 am-12:00 pm at Life Learning Center.
o Tiffany Smith from Children’s Law Services is hosting a viewing of the film “Homestretch” which addresses youth homelessness. The event is November 12th, at the Eva G. Farris Auditorium at Northern Kentucky University and begins at 4:30 pm.
