Sequence of work including control
Measures / Before Commencing with any work.
1.  Introduce yourself to manager on-site; seek ROOF PERMITS from the shopping centre management.
2.  Establish whereabouts of fire exits, fire extinguishers and fire meeting point.
Evaporator – indoor unit.
3.  Gain access to sales area evaporators utilizing engineers own step ladders.
4.  Clean unit using vacuum cleaner and coil cleaner.
5.  Clean fascia using rags.
6.  Record operation / performance using temperature probe.
Condenser – Outdoor unit.
7.  Where applicable erect ladders to gain access to roof area.
8.  Gain access to condensers.
9.  Complete site specific risk assessment.
10.  Clean unit generally, and condenser coil using coil cleaner.
11.  Record operation / performance using temperature probe and Amp meter.
12.  If nessissary blow coil through by connecting Nitrogen through low-pressure regulator.
13.  Clean area of work.
14.  Remove all debris from roof – rope to the floor.
15.  Request a driver to collect redundant equipment (liase with office staff).
16.  Return all roof works certificates to centre management.
17.  Explain both works carried out, and any future works required to store manager.
18.  Sign off both centre and store.
Door Curtains.
19.  Access over door heater.
20.  Utilise vacuum to clean.
21.  Record operation and performance utilising Amp & temperature meters.
Amenities fans
22.  Visit each room in amenity block.
23.  Clean and record performance of each fan / water heater.
24.  Where nessissary update asset register.
Controls
25.  Check operation of all equipment. Record operation and defects.
Plant Areas
26.  Clean generally, inspect to ensure ease of ingress and egress.
27.  Record any Health and Safety issues, explain fully the contents of reports.
28.  Explain operation, defects and outstanding H & S issues to manager.
Identify: Identification & avoidance of hazards. / ·  Items 3-6, 7-8, 19-21 - Falls from heights.
·  Item 11, 21 and 23 - Electric shock.
·  Item 4, 5 and 20 - Particulate hazard.
·  Item 4 & 12 - Pressurised systems.
·  Item 4, 10, 12, 23 & 26 - CoSHH guidelines / assessments.
Control Measures.
Access to place of work. / ·  3-6, 7-8, 19-21 – Erect barriers between area of work and non-protected roof edge. Secure ladders at top (tie off). Use barriers around work area whilst on sales floor.
·  11, 21 and 23 – isolate equipment before carrying out any works.
·  4, 5, 12 and 20 – Utilise standard PPE – Dust mask, eye protection, gloves.
·  4, 10, 12, 23 & 26 – read and understand CoSHH data sheets supplied.
·  4, 10, 12, 23 & 26 – Use PPE supplied.
Lighting. / Only applicable when working inside, when working above suspended ceilings ensure that enough tiles are removed to provide ample light.
Hot works. / None during this operation
Is permit to work required : / Roof permits will be required.

Access equipment to be used:

E.g.: Tower scaffolding, combination ladders, steps. / Combi type ladders to access roof area near condensing units, cassette units and over door heaters.

Site supervision

Identify person in overall charge / Mr David Prout and Mr Chris Ridler will be responsible for site safety during the contract as outlined in Section 2.0 of our Company Policy Document.

Works Supervision

Identify the person directly responsible for works / See works request document.

Safety of third parties

Identify works which may present a risk to third parties and detail control measures / ·  3-6, 19-21 – Public – Barriers will be used where required to prevent public ingress to work areas.

Environmental controls

Identify :
Control of harmful emissions, e.g. noise, and dust.
Wind, rain, extremes of temperature.
Procedures for disposal of waste / ·  Noise – Not applicable
·  Dust –Vacuum will be utilised to remove surface dust as first method, wet rags will be used second, if nitrogen used will be outside of trading times.
·  Extreme weather conditions may hinder / prevent roof access.
·  Redundant filter media should be bagged before being skipped (no bio-hazard)
·  Release of Nitrogen.

First aid and PPE requirements

Identify any additional first aid or PPE requirements, e.g. resuscitator, eye wash, gloves, respirator, hearing protection. / All PPE is issued and should be worn at all times.
