1-  What is State Academy?

State Academy is one-of-a-kind TV show that will shed the light on issues faced by Lebanese and accordingly, offer non-political solutions developed by several candidates.

The show will be:

o  Discussing what matters to the Lebanese people

o  Involve citizens in their country’s public life and allow them to contribute to its development

o  Implement effective and innovative solutions for socio-economic problems via sustainable business models, ensuring the well-being of all Lebanese,

o  Selecting the best candidate with the sharpest and most feasible solution with a nation-wide impact

o  Uncovering the future generation of young “leaders” who share common interest values

o  Promoting Citizenship and common interest values

State Academy will be launched in November 2012 and will feature 11 episodes that will be broadcasted on LBC TV Channel starting March 2013, at a rate of one episode per week.

State Academy will combine both studio and field taping, whereby a docureality integral segment will be recorded and aired during the show.

The winning project must be the most feasible one and succeed in achieving major impact on the national level.

The chosen winner will win a cash prize of USD 50 000 to kick start implementing the project.

As a result, State Academy will:

o  Help the Lebanese economy through local development and unified efforts

o  Show people that change is possible regardless of politics

o  Propose concrete solutions

o  Nurture potential projects

2-  Why join?

As a Lebanese citizen you have both rights and obligations towards your country: the need to make it a better a place and the right to be heard. At State Academy you can achieve both.

In fact, State Academy offers the perfect opportunity for each creative, talented and motivated person to make the most of his entrepreneurial and leadership skills by offering tangible and effective solutions for his country’s problems and challenges.

State Academy will also give you the chance to be coached by specialists and experts, who will ensure a continuous follow-up to help you prepare and come up with a comprehensive business plan.

All candidates will get the chance to pitch their ideas to potential investors who might be interested in venturing in the project.

3-  What Projects to submit?

State Academy welcomes any projects that will make a positive impact on the country and the community at large in various fields. These range from communication to transportation, electricity, recycling, environment, urbanism, waste, education, landmark, water and more.

4-  How to Win?

The winning project must be the most feasible one and succeed in achieving a major impact on the national level: It must be both sustainable and scalable, and will be evaluated based on a detailed list of quantitative and qualitative criteria. Moreover, it has to respond to a clear problematic and be financially, technically, legally, ethically and institutionally feasible.

The choice of the winner will take place in two phases. On one hand, a prominent Jury will rate each project during the competition; while during the final live episode, the public will get the chance to vote for his favorite project and candidate.

A process of selection after each episode, will lead to the final live episode with several candidates competing for the last time together.

The chosen winner will win a cash prize of USD 50 000 to kick start implementing the project.

5-  To Apply

To apply, visit www.stateacademy.com, section Submit or download our free State Academy mobile App to fill in the application form.

Submit an original essay of no more than 250 words summarizing your project, explaining the theme, its benefits to the country and the geographical location of its implementation. You can also attach a detailed sheet or business plan or any document you feel relevant to the application. And since at State Academy, we encourage creativity, feel free to attach a short audio or video of you presenting your project.

The Deadline for you submitting your applications is the 31st of December 2012.

6-  Candidate’s Profile

Be at least 14 years old, Lebanese, living in Lebanon or abroad. Groups or NGO are also mostly welcomed to apply a common project.

Plus, love your country, be creative in order to find feasible solutions (regardless of politics), and be eager to make a change!

7-  Who is behind Sate Academy?

CIH, or Civic Influence Hub.

CIH is an influence group of the Lebanese civil society, aimed at building the dynamic of change and development of economic and social policies through civil influence, thus empowering citizen's participation, and expanding their options under the rule of law and institutions.

8-  Rules and regulations

By entering the show, participants agree to play fair, and cause no harm nor threaten any other candidates in the show or their affiliate relatives.

o  Entering the show phases:

Casting period: The candidates respond to the show campaign and have to present a personal project, which is tangible and beneficial for the community to the jury. As soon as they are accepted, they will have to gradually -as long as they win- go through the game’s 4 phases: the casting episode, the themes episodes, the semi-finals, and last but not least, the final episode.

At the end of the show, the winner will be provided a predetermined amount. The pilot Project must be implemented in a specific village, town, district, or geographical region.

o  Entering the show conditions:

Once you submitted your form, you will officially be invited to present your project in front of the jury. Show entries cannot be revised or altered once submitted. By your submissions, you represent and warrant that they are your own original creation, you own all the rights to the submitted materials, you have acquired permission from all other persons who may appear in the submitted materials, the submissions do not contain illegal, dangerous, or unsafe activity, do not disparage competitors, do not involve drug or alcohol use, are intended for family audience viewing, and have not been copied in whole or in part from any other work and do not violate or infringe any copyright, trademark or other proprietary right of any person or entity (including any rights of privacy or publicity). The jury in its sole discretion may decide to disqualify the entry for any reasons. Once submitted, the essay and photo become the exclusive property of the Show entities and will not be returned. Altered, defaced, mutilated, illegible, or incomplete entries are ineligible. Entrant agrees and acknowledges Show entities may have full access to the material they presented.

As a condition of entry, entrants irrevocably grant to Show Entities and their affiliates, legal representatives, assigns, agents and licensees a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, unconditional, perpetual and transferable right and license to:

-  Reproduce, encode, store, modify, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse (without limitation, as to when or to the number of times used), the Entrant’s submitted name, address, image, likeness, statements, biographical material in contest promotions.

-  Use the Show Entry Materials for advertising, promotion or commercial purposes and the right, without limitation, to publicly display, reproduce and distribute the Show Entry Materials in any media format or medium and through any media channel.

-  Allow access to material via RSS or any similar feed.

-  Forfeit rights of privacy, intellectual property rights or other legal or moral rights that would preclude Show entities or affiliates from using the Contest Entry Material for promotional purposes and agrees to never sue or assert any claim against the Contest Entities’ use of those Materials.

-  Privacy Policy: Any personal information supplied by entrant to Show entities will be subject to Show entities’ privacy policy. The Show Entities shall have the right to disqualify any entries that they deem to be obscene, vulgar, lewd, derogatory, inappropriate, or otherwise not in good taste, as determined by the Show Entities in their sole discretion. Essays and photos must be 100% your original work.

The Show Entities are not responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, stolen, garbled or misdirected entries, all of which are void. The Show entities reserve the right to cancel the candidate participation in the show, in whole or in part, in its sole discretion, as well as the right, in its sole discretion, to dismiss the winner from further participation in the show as a result of conduct that is considered improper or offensive to the local community, is likely to be detrimental to the health or safety of the winner or other individuals, or demonstrates that the individual is not capable or unwilling to participate fully in the show experience.

General conditions: The Show entities are not responsible for technical failures of any kind. Only the stated number of prizes will be awarded. By entering the Show and/or accepting the prize, entrants/prize winners agree to be bound by these rules.

o  Disputes: Except where prohibited, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and the Show Entities in connection with the Show, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the Lebanese law.
