S&S® DONATES $1,500 TO SUPPORT CAMPING FOR KIDS
COLCHESTER, Conn. – S&S Worldwide has again stepped up and donated $1,500 to help kids in Colchester go to camp this summer.
The check was presented on June 18 to First Selectman Gregg Schuster, Parks and Recreation Director Jason Cohen, Recreation Coordinator Anita Miazga and Camp Director Shannon Tamosaitis.
"S&S Worldwide and the Schwartz family continues to be a generous member of the community,” Schuster said. “Their continued contribution to this and many other causes is greatly appreciated by Colchester."
Cohen agreed.
“S&S Worldwide continues to be the consummate community partner with their perennial support of our many programs and services,” he said. “Through their generous contribution to our Camp Scholarship Fund, we will be able to accommodate many more children who would otherwise not be able to take part in our enriching summer program.”
The money will be used for yearly camp sponsorships commonly called “camperships.”
Camperships allow underprivileged children to attend Colchester’s award-winning summer programs.
“Summer programs are essential to a child’s development but we know that not every family can afford to send their kids to camp,” said S&S Co-President Adam Schwartz. “We’re happy to do our part so that every kid has the opportunity to expand their horizons, build friendships and enjoy the great outdoors.”
S&S also donated sporting goods and craft supplies to be used by camp children. The company has consistently supported the town’s Park and Recreation Department, underwriting camperships and special events for more than a decade.
In turn, the Parks and Recreation department regularly reviews S&S products and offers feedback on its website design and usability.
S&S® Worldwide is a national distributor of arts and crafts and sporting goods products for recreation, health care and education professionals. S&S is headquartered in Colchester and has been in business for 104 years. Currently the company employs approximately 300 employees.
Colchester Parks and Recreation brings its mission, “creating community through people, parks and programs,” to life every day. The Department’s Recreation Division serves thousands of Colchester residents each year through a wide variety of events and activities, including the annual “57 Fest.” Through its Parks Division, the Department maintains over one million square feet of municipal, park and school grounds.
