POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:Driver, Medical & Dental Vans
DIVISION:Mobile Dental Restorative Program/Mobile Dental Sealant Program/School Based Health Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for driving and maintaining the Mobile Dental Outreach Unitsand Medical School-based Health Van. It includes assisting the team members on the unit in their endeavor to provide quality dental, nutrition and medical care. This position requires the ability to represent the organization in a positive, professional image to the community, adhere strictly to the policy of confidentiality and communicate the vision and mission of Community Health Alliance to the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Understands and upholds the CHA mission and philosophy and integrates this philosophy into all aspects of the job function.
- Has the ability to work with minimal supervision as a team member in a self-directed environment.
- Demonstrates sensitivity in dealing with special needs of the people served, ranging from children to adults.
- Attends all required department and division staff meetings in order to be an informed CHA employee on department, division and organizational issues.
- Job performance for this position is evaluated by goals established upon hire and reviewed on an annual basis. This review is a part of the annual performance evaluation.
- Drives and maintains the Mobile Dental Outreach Unitand/or Medical School-based Health Van. Receives a current schedule of the various vans service locations and makes all necessary arrangements to deliver, position and make ready the vans for service when needed.
- Coordinates maintenance of vehicle on an on-going basis. Notifies supervisor of repair/maintenance needs and acts as liaison to maintenance and service vendors. Records engine mileage/generator hours for maintenance purposes. Completes fuel tax reports and other necessary logs and submits to supervisor.
- Ensures that all maintenance logs, fuel receipts and other required forms are complete.
- Supports all van staff by assisting in all areas of van operation when needed. Assist other program vehicle drivers when necessary, due to illness, vacation, etc.
- Works with supervisor on supply orders and follows through with the maintenance and storage of these supplies. Is responsible for condition of off-site storage unit for Mobile Unit belongings.
- Supervises janitorial services of unit. Reports to Outreach Program Director all incidence of substandard cleaning operations.
- Performs minor vehicle maintenance, i.e., fills and empties vehicle water and waste tanks when needed. Fills gasoline tank when needed and arranges and supervises external washing of unit on a regular basis.
MANDATORY JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Nevada Commercial Drivers License with clean driving record.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
NON-MANDATORY JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Sensitivity to the needs and situations of a multi-cultural, low income population, and a desire to work with this population.
- Willingness and desire to learn new skills.
- Computer experience preferred.
- Truck/large vehicle driving experience preferred.
