Tracks and difficulty

  1. (mountain hut) Koča pri Savici653 m – Crno jez1294 m – Lopućniska Dolina - Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih mountain hut1685 m – Dolina Triglavskich Jezer – Zasavska Koča2071 m (mountain hut)
Very easy. The beginning quite hard – you have to climb 600 mat the distance of1 km. Very steep climbing.. You can swim in Crno jez. – though water is cold 
  1. Zasavska Koča 2071 m (mountain hut) – Hribarice – Kanjavec 2569 m - Tržaška koča na Doliču mountain hut 2151 m – Dolič 2164 m - Dom Planika mountain hut 2401 m - Triglavski dom na Kredarici 2515 m - Dom Valentina Staniča (Staničev Dom) 2332 m
Quite steep climb to Kanjavec, though the track is not protected by metal bolts and fixed cables. From Dolič to Dom Planika occasionally protected track. From now on usually protected track. Very nice panorama!
  1. Dom Valentina Staniča (Staničev Dom) 2332 m - Triglavski dom na Kredarici 2515 m – Triglav 2864 m – west track – Plemenice – Luknja 1758 m – Bivak pod Luknja 1480 m
Fully protected trail. It takes about 1.5hour to Trigalav from Kredarici. In my opinion very safe track. The most safety is the west track (from the peak to Dolic) though it’s also the shortest one.
The journey through Plemenice from South is very hard! and dangerous! You should have Via Ferrata kit (Helmet, gloves, climbing harnesses with two short lengths of rope or webbing linked in Y formation to the harness by means of a braking device, with a carabiner at the end of each line (so called via ferrata kit))
It’s easier to make it from north to south, i.e. to Triglav and not from it.
    Going north it takes 3-4hours.
Protection in Plemenice is old and rusty.
  2. Bivak pod Luknja 1480 m – Sovatna – Dovska vrata 2180 m – Kriż 2410 m – Bivak IV na Ruśju 1980 m
Very steep and exhausting climb from Bivak to Dovska vrata.
    Protected track to Kriż.
  3. Bivak IV na Ruśju 1980 m – Zadnji Dolek – Škrlatica 2740 m - Zadnji Dolek – Rogljica 2547 m – Bovska vratica - Pogačnikov dom na Kriških 2050 m
Long and boring track to Zadnji Dolek. You can there leave your bags and climb Škrlatica without them! It’ll be much easier. You will return the same way. It’s not a hard climb.
Hard climb on scree slope from Zadnji Dolek to Rogljica.
  4. Pogačnikov dom na Kriških 2050 m – Planja 2453 m - Poštarski dom na Vršiču
Avoiding Prisojnik and two windows – Prednje okno and the other one. The track leads south and east from Prisojnik. Long but beautiful track.

Equipment

You should have a helmet with yourself. The mountains are stony and many stones fall from the top.
For safety you should have Via Ferrata kit - Helmet, gloves, climbing harnesses with two short lengths of rope or webbing linked in Y formation to the harness by means of a braking device, with a carabiner at the end of each line (so called via ferrata kit)

It will be very useful when climbing Tiglav (though it’s not necessary).

Plemenice from south and Prisjonik – in my opinion you need the equipment.

Animals

There are many goats, sheeps and lizards.

Water

Generally there’s no drinkable water. Do not melt the snow!!!

There are some sources of drinkable water. However it’s better to buy pecial pills to disinfect the water – that’s what I was doing. The price is around 20€ for 100pills, each for 1 litre. Then you can drink water from rain and from pipes in mountain huts.

Water sources

I marked some points with drinkable water here:

Attraction that should be avoided

  1. Savica Waterfall – Bohinj Jezero
You must pay 2,1€ (student) lub 2,5€ (adult) for an entrance. First you make about 488 steps up, then have a quick glimpse at the boring waterfall. It’s not worth paying for!
It’s better to see it on the Internet.
  2. Dom Valentina Staniča – mountain hut
