RY vs FCY Dual Meet Parent_Coach Packet

LOCATION: approx. 1-1.5hr drive from YMCA Reston

PLEASE NOTE- this meet is NOT at the Frederick YMCA!!!!! This venue is to the west of Frederick and the shortest route recommends taking MD464North at the traffic circle after crossing the Potomac River

(above route has tolls, if you wish to avoid, you can drive from Rt 7 North to Frederick instead of the Greenway)

The entrance to the pool is in the front of the building, to the left of the main entrance. There is a large parking lot in the front of the school, between the school and football stadium, as well as additional parking around the right side of the school.

Coaches Schedule:

  • Session 1 – Coach Raj, Coach Kristy, and Coach Kurtis
  • Session 2 – Coach Raj, Coach Kristy, and Coach Kurtis

UPDATED SCHEDULE: each session approximately 3 hours

Saturday Session 1: 11-12 boys, 13-14 boys and girls, 15-18 boys and girls

  • Arrive: 8:30am
  • Warm Up: 9:00-9:30 am (DO NOT MISS)
  • Events 9:40 am

Saturday Session 2: 11-12 girls, 9-10 boys and girls, 8&Under boys and girls

  • Arrive: 12:30pm
  • Warm Up: 1:00-1:30 pm (DO NOT MISS)
  • Events 1:40 pm

GRID: Please come with your swimmer’s arm marked with an E/H/L grid, as below, with a permanent marker (Sharpie). To save time, you may fill in the E (event) and Stroke using Event Entry list. The Heat and Lane should be filled in when swimmer arrives before warm-ups or immediately after.

ATTIRE:

  • Team Suit and Team Cap, goggles, towel
  • back up cap and goggles are recommended
  • Team Tshirt
  • Warm flannel or sweat pants, sweat shirt, flip flops

TEAM AREA: All the kids will be housed in the cafeteria. It is a bit of a walk from the cafeteria to the pool deck so the kids should have flip flops or some type of foot wear. Families often bring folding lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Concessions will be available.

  • Swimmers are reminded of the Team Handbook rules and behaviors.

CONCESSIONS: Will be available. Menu not known at this time. Recommend you bring healthy snacks and water bottle.

NOISE: It can get very loud in the cafeteria, which has presented problems in the past with swimmmers not hearing their names called. So please be respectful for both teams, and keep your voices down and pay attention to the Clerk of Course!

TEAM SPIRIT: This is a scored meet. Some events are marked with an “X” for ‘exhibition’ if they are not scored, but they are an official result. Coaches have placed swimmers in non-scoring events to allow them to achieve new times early in the season. Please show respect to our host and demonstrate good sportsmanship, in the pool, on the deck, in the hallways, locker rooms, and cafeteria. Cheer for your teammates and good performances on either team. Wait in your lane for all swimmers in your heat to finish and shake hands with swimmers before getting out of the water. Do the best you can and have fun!
